Thomas Knoell Look-alikes

Anyone know where i can get a tiara in a style similar to Thomas knoell Designs? It doesn't have to be hand made- I don't mind mass produced stuff lol- I just can't afford Thomas Knoell prices...

let me know if you find anything!

Re: Thomas Knoell Look-alikes

ohmigod! another modern furniture lover! and here I thought I was the only one...

(yes, it's true, besides my reputation as a foodie, I'm also a MoMA design addict.... Even my china and flatware are Scandinavian modern design... flatware by arne jacobsen )

Many furniture look-alikes aren't worth it in my book, becuase they're only 30% less expensive than the real-deal, and lack the resale /investment value...

One place that seems a little cheaper is whiteonwhite.com. Other times, if you simply go to www.cb2.com, or www.westelm.com (owned by crate and barrel and potterybarn, respectively). you can find certain pieces that are inspired by Knoell.

Other times, you can get the REAL good stuff (genuine knoell, first issue) on ebay. Also, you can get NEW the real deal (maybenot knoell, but at least kartell, flos, lucepan, vitra, herman miller) on either www.europebynet.com or http://exitartcatalog.stores.yahoo.net/puredesign.html. These 2 sites actually cost the same as the high-end knock-offs... I know, bizarre.

No matter where you buy the knock-offs or genuine, prepare to wait and argue to get your stuff. I've waited 6 months for my kartell chairs, that were 'in-stock' from one vendor, and 5 months for my tape dispenser

modernists are a patient lot, and they are taken advantage of continuously!

I *think* the she meant Thomas Knoell headpieces (tiaras, haircombs, pins, etc) not furniture, but unfortunately I don't have any alternate suggestions. Sorry!

lOL--i was talking about tiara's BUT I do like modern furniture too, and am checking out the websites suggested as we speak.

I did check out the Thomas knoell sale section...nothin' there that I like...I'm looking to spend under $100. Don't know if its possible..but I'm going to check barron's to see if they have anything I like

I loved his stuff too!

However, he was also out of price range for me.
If you're in the city, you can try what I did....Go to The bridal Garden (sheltering arms charity, selling gowns, veils, headpieces etc)

I don't know if they carry Thomas Knoell, but they did have lots of really nicely made hair pieces that are all designer samples that were donated to the shop, most expensive piece I bought was $40.
