Thomas Paul or Velvet Studios????

I can't decide between Thomas Paul and Velvet Studios? They are both pretty much the same price and offer the same package.

Any opinions/comments will be very helpful.

Velvet Studio did an Amazing job on my pictures, I very highly recommend
them. I have pictures in my album.

they're both great companies that have nothing but good reviews. I'm a former Thomaspaul bride & i can say that i'm absolutely in love with every single one of my photos..not to mention Tom is such a great guy. u can see my review - it's loaded with photos & nothing but raves about him. i agree with Denise with the fact that they have very different styles...so really look at previous brides photos/sample albums & use that to see where ur style gears u towards. Thomaspaul has a very f ine art approach to his photos which i loved

Thanks for the advice. I'm a little confused about what you mean by 'style'. I looked at both their websites and they look like they have the same 'style' or 'type' of photos, which is why I can't decide.

I really want someone who takes excellent candids (I think the technical term is photojournalistic). I'm not much on the portrait/formal pics. Based on that, who would you recommend?

i think their styles are quite different. Thomas paul does a bit more PJ plus he does ALOT with photoshop and gives the pics a different look.

I booked with Velvet Studios. At first I thought their style was more photojournalistic, which is what I really wanted, but it seems that they are more traditional in their style. Thomas Paul looks a lot more photojournalistic than Velvet, but like someone else said, he does a lot in photoshop, so I don't love that. While at first when I realized Velvet was not as photojournalistic as I had hoped, I am happy with my decision and I plan on stressing how I would prefer my second photog to focus on getting the best possible PJ pics she can!!!

They don't have the same style. I WAS a Velvet Bride. A lot transpired that I wont post about, but now i am a Thomas Paul Bride and am so exctied. Velvet's pictures are a bit more basic and traditional, IMO, while TP has more elaborate angles and pictures. Again JMO.

Its a program where they edit/ touch up the pictures. For example, the pictures where you see the flowers in color and everything else in black and white... is done in photoshop

We didn't look at Thomas Paul but we went with Velvet and just had our e-pics yesterday. We really had fun with Bob and we love his work. There's an 08 bride with her proofs up. ILOVEBRIAN2008

I booked with Velvet , too. I actually just got my epics yesterday and have to say that I am thrilled ! I love the photojournalist look too -that is my style and if it was up to me I would have all PJ.(FH is a little more traditional).I stressed to Bob and Judy that I love the PJ look and that's really what we got. I have over 400 pics that were taken,and I really love over 90 % of them. I don't have one picture that I dislike.That is huge for me because I am very critical of myself,and I recently gained weight and was nervous about that,too.

I think that it may depend on what the bride wants .Look at all the amazing beautiful pics from LI wedding bride Camacho-(she's why I made the appointment to meet with them-and why I booked)...I felt her pics were traditional and PJ,but all gorgeous. I think that Velvet is talented in both,and that both the PJ and traditional pics they do are beautiful. It may seem that they may be more traditional to some,but maybe those pics are for brides that want more traditional.FH and I had a great time and Bob and Judy made us feel so comfortable,and it totally showed in the pictures.

I just wanted to say that the last time i met with Thomas Paul (too pick up my epics) he told me he was getting away from the photo shop. The only edits he made to my epics were to change from color to black and white or sepia. They came out amazing. I have a few in my album.

My friends used Velvet last year and they gave me their whole CD of proofs to look at and it was very traditional and i just was not crazy about the pics. Its more about what you like.

This may be a silly question, but what is the difference between traditional and Photojournalistic pictures. I thought photojournalistic meant candids?
