Those Married/Brides Is 10K worth it?

Original post by chris&julie

I am still deciding on reception halls, but my question is their is such a huge price difference between our number 1 choice and number 2 choice ($10,000). Do you think it is worth the extra money? I have heard both sides, it is a five hour affair vs it is the best day of your life? The married women that I have spoken to say go for the cheaper place, but I like everyones input? Thanks

Sometimes when you are having your reception in a more expensive place, it will call for more expensive everything else!

I don't totally agree with this, however I understand what you are saying. If one is rather imaginative and creative, you would be surprised how one can do a lot with a little. Also, sometimes 'less is more' and if one invests in the place, one really does not have to invest in much else because the ambiance will overpower the 'little things' that no one will even notice...

It goes both ways. There are ways to cut corners that are not noticable but at the same time I couldn't imagine using a dj at say Oheka castle.

To the orginal poster...

What's the difference between the two places?
Is there something the lower priced venue can do that is not $10k that would be satisfactory?
Do you think you might regret the extra cost?
(I feel this way about my gown. I loved it. It was beautiful. But it would be the one thing I would do differently-I know I could have found a gown I loved as much for half what I paid)

it is all very subjective...

i was in love with my hall...so I did with a dj...

some other bride may really want a band...therefore will take her 2nd choice...

although I will say...i don't know if my choices would be the same if my parents didn't pay for half...
