So I have an old friend from college. I haven't seen her in 2 years and I had no intention on inviting her to my wedding because we don't really talk and not that close. She recently popped up on AIM and asked me when my wedding date was. Then she told me she probably couldn't make it bc she is pregnant and her due date was right before the wedding. ( I was relieved that I had a built in excuse for not inviting her). But now, she IMed me again and said that her and her boyfriend will probably end up coming with the baby! Who is she to invite herself, her boyfriend and her newborn to my wedding? I kind of find it humerous, but the same time, I don't know how to tell her she cannot come.
Just thought I'd share a story. I'm sure every bride has one of these situations. What have you done?

Re: those pushy un-invited people...
That is quite presumptuous... I (so far) haven't dealt with anyone inviting themselves, though I do have to invite 'with guest' to a # of people who if it were up to me, I wouldn't..
My fiance has had a # of people from his work talking about how much fun they would have at our wedding... he doenst really say anyting in reply, he'll be leaving his job right before invites go out, so he'll be lucky enough to avoid it all together!

Re: those pushy un-invited people...
You are so totally not alone....I had the same situation, and I just laughed it off and I am still not sending an invitation...It's one of those things where ya just shouldn't care...the best quote is ' it's your wedding and you do what you want' Just try to Block her or something because that is just rude and annoying...
My issue was this: I was in a Sorority back in college and now we have these monthly get togethers and one of these girls that i was never ever close with and just started kinda of talking to her at these get togethers said to me 'oh please don't sit me at the loser single table' I laughed and said Don't worry you'll be far from them' (i meant you won't be invited dont know if she took it that way but i find it OBNOXIOUS....to say the least....Anyway my thoughts are to just brush it off...and laugh how silly some people can be...
To make it easier you can say no children of any age are invited to the wedding..
Good Luck!

Re: those pushy un-invited people...
I would just write back to the person that when you told me you wouldn't be able to come, I changed the list and can't change it back bc you also took away some other people and you can't keep changing it. You can also say, plus, we wouldn't be able to have a newborn there, we are not allowing other family members to come with newborns. Just be firm.
I had my Dad's sister in Colorado email me out of the blue (didn't know she had my email address) and I haven't seen her in 10 years, and she all of a sudden asked if I needed her 2 daughters addresses. So then, my parents said, ok, invite them too. So I asked for the addresses, and then my aunt asked if her older daughter's bf could come. I was mad, but replied yes bc I would want to be invited w my bf. The next day, she asked if her other daughter's bf could come bc they are 'serious'. Um, the last time this girl was serious with her husband, they broke up 1 month after the wedding and a child. So, now I got pissed, and my mom and dad had it after that as well and said, no, now no bf's and if the girls don't like it, they won't come. Well, that is what happened, so now the daughters won't come bc of their bf's ....which is where we started, and now I don't have to pay for their meals...yay!!

These are funny, but I'm sure horrific stories. As for you that got the IM, just ignore her. If she calls, don't answer. If she IM's you, ignore her. She'll get the clue w/o you having to say anything. GL

You are SO not alone! I have a friend of mine from college who after we graduated.....split off went our seperate ways & then ran into eachother when my friend passed away....then she got pregnant and I sent her an e-mail every now & then to see how the pregnancy was going etc...well when she found out I got engaged, now she won't stop leaving me messages on myspace, in my e-mails and has said to me several times.....pleaaase invite me to your wedding....I have proof of this on my actual page! it's bizarre! & we were at one point a close group of girls but she was a year older so she graduated ahead of us,& we all lost touch with her. I am still debating on whether or not to invite her b/c I feel bad!!

It's easy just tell her that the invites are out.

Re: those pushy un-invited people...
Oh my god is she serious? I agree...block her name on IM and then just not send an invite. Or you could just tell her you are having close friends and family only and NO KIDS. Just what you need...a screaming newborn at your wedding. Honestly, I'll say it again...what is wrong with people????

I know you din't have any intentions of inviting her, but another way of looking at it is maybe this girl cares about you and just assumed you cared enough about her to be invited to the wedding! Don't be mad at her for wanting to be a part of your special day! XOXOXO Kitty

Re: those pushy un-invited people...
I can relate...... I simply told people that we had to keep it small and only invite immediate family (even if its a lie)

Re: those pushy un-invited people...
I agree-I would just say that since she already told you she couldn't go, now you don't have the room.
I would tell anyone that asks to be invited-that invites themselves, that you guys are ONLY inviting close friends and family. I haven't had this problem yet-but I am sure I will soon enough.

Re: those pushy un-invited people...
My FSIL told her friend that she is invited, even though she is not. Her friend is not a part of our lives at all. Now FSIL keeps trying to make FH tell HER friend (that SHE led to believe was invited) that she's not invited!! I told him how dare she put him in that uncomfortable situation. It's her fault in the first place!! FSIL keeps telling FH, 'Oh she's already planning what to bring to the bridal shower, and what she will wear to the wedding.' Well, that's not my problem! She even offered to pay for her friend! I said no way.
