We bought all three of our dogs from breeders. 2 in oregon and 1 from NY. What type of puppy do you want? I can recommend a great Shih Tzu breeder.
A yorkie or a westie. I want a small fluffy dog. So many of my friends have shih tzu so I want to be different lol
maybe you can check see if there are any up for adoption.....next time we get a dog im not sure where we will get it from, i keep saying we should adopt one BUT part of me wants to go through a breeder again - even though i didnt have the greatest experience i like so many breeds though that im sure if i went to adopt id find something adoreable....you may be able to find a yorkie/westie/pomerian puppy at the shelter....we had an american eskimo for 8 years, he was the family dog, he was amazing, best dog ever, he just shed a lot and needed to always be brushed, but they are REALLY cute too
Those are beautiful dogs! I want one that won't shed a lot either and I know westies and yorkies are pretty good.
alot of breeders are part of associations. I would look up reputable dog associations and look at their recommended list of breeders. They wont allow just any breeder to be part of their association.
Check to see if there is an association for the specific breed you are looking for, most likely there will be. They will help you with any info and have reputable breeders names on their site

I have also been looking bc when Dh and I move we are going to get a puppy. Have found these type of websites most helpful. The AKC site posted by AMG is a great one.

I have also been looking bc when Dh and I move we are going to get a puppy. Have found these type of websites most helpful. The AKC site posted by AMG is a great one.
Now I can't wait to get back from the HM!

I adopted my maltese froma great family on craigslist. Def shop the shelters there are so many purebreds there that need a home and how cares if they are not a puppy youll be able to get them already potty trained!!!! Mine was 1 and 1/2 when i adopted him. He is a jem and the joy in our lives.... GOOD LUCK

We got our puppy from a rescue shelter. He's a purebred German Shepherd dog. You take a chance when you get a rescued dog but it's worth it. Good Luck...What are you looking for BTW???

You should try a havanese! They're bred to be companion dogs and they're small and fluffy but not so small that your FH will feel like less of a man walking him/her (yes this was a requirement of my FH). I think Ollie is full grown now and she is 12 lbs and so friggin cute people stop on the street to gawk at her, and she eats it up. Here she is sending an e-mail

i got lily from a breeder in canada, i flew there to pick her up...shes a coton de tulear, theres not many breeders for them. if your still deciding on a breed cotons are not common and sooooo super friendly! plus they are hyperallergenic and dont shed at all =) i still have the breeder info somewhere if you want, she was so good the months before the puppy was born, sending pictures and info.... plus she was housebroken already when I got her at 2 months, major plus! =) good luck!

There are TONS of rescue organizations that specialize in purebred dogs. No need to go to a breeder when there are so many homeless dogs that need you.

I agree...puppies just want to be loved. I just read that a lot of dogs that were saved from west virginia are at North shore and available starting today...
