Re: those who are not having children at the wedding
They have no say. This is our wedding and plus we don't need like 40 kids running around. Our wedding is on April 2, 2005. They have enough 'warning' time. Good luck and sorry to sound mean, but I'm just being honest.

My family was a little obnoxious, but when you think about it, I'm getting married on a Yacht... I don't want anyone falling over board!

We only had a few children at our wedding and it was immediate family only.

Re: those who are not having children at the wedding
We are inviting children...because they are all family! I am getting 2 babysitters for the ceremony and reception to entertain the kids. I'm also making activy packs for them. For us...it was the only way...I couldn't let some of them come and not others...like I said, it's all family. If they chose to leave them home...that's up to them. But, I will be prepared...and I'm sure the kids will have a blast! JMO.

Re: those who are not having children at the wedding
I have 5 nieces and a nephew and did not invite them.. They will go to church but not reception. It is an evening wedding and frankly my brothers and sis in laws were pleased they could go and enjoy themselves and not worry about kids. Plus the kids are all sleeping over friends house's and looking forward to that. Your family will have to deal with your decision.

Re: those who are not having children at the wedding
We aren't having any children under 5, and my FH's aunt is very upset that her younger grandchildren will not be invited. She keeps commenting about it - I wish people would just learn to deal!

Re: those who are not having children at the wedding
FH and I decided that no kids under the age of 16 would be invited. We felt badly about this but we also did not want kids running around our reception. We set the precedent with our e-party....we did not invite children.

Some are upset, most understand!
Make the decision as you want it to be!! But FYI there will always be someone who doenst agree and makes a stink! As long as you and your FH agree and stick with your decision thats all that matters!

Re: those who are not having children at the wedding
Oh it caused a major war between me and my MIL! We decided no children, except the ones in the wedding party, which were my brother's children. My MIL wanted to invite HER cousins children to come... they have 7 children!!! Between the ages of 3-12! I won that argument but it I was given a really hard time about it!

Re: those who are not having children at the wedding
Why do people have such an issue with this? Its like parents automatically get on the defensive side that their is something wrong with their childrens' behavior or something. I was talking about this just 10 minutes ago. Children do not belong at formal affairs, no matter WHOSE children it is. I wouldn't care if my SIL had the baby Jesus, hes still not invited to my wedding!

Re: those who are not having children at the wedding
One FBIL has made an issue. We planned on inviting 18 yr old niece, not inviting 16 yr old niece or 13 yr old nephew (all our other nieces an nephews are 10 or under, so def not inviting).
We are having a family dinner as opposed to a 'rehearsal dinner' at Dave & Busters so we could have a nice celebration with our nieces & nephews included.

Re: those who are not having children at the wedding
My FI and I have already talked to my FMIL about this and she's great--totally on board and willing to handle any of their relatives who might have a problem with it. Our feeling is that we're having a Saturday night black tie wedding and it's not an appropriate place for a child--we're not even having a flowergirl or ring bearer. I think the fact that there aren't even children in the wedding party shows how serious we are about this. We're also paying for a large portion of the wedding and, quite honestly, I'm not about to pay $100 for a kid to eat at my wedding.

Re: those who are not having children at the wedding
I am planning to just have my FGs (ages 1 1/2 and 4)....other than that no kids under 13. I am a little nervous about how to get this message across....I know you're not supposed to put it on any of the invites or anything....I just hope no one thinks because my FH's neices (the flower girls) are attending it means they can bring little kids too.....

Re: those who are not having children at the wedding
I am having such a problem with this area.. Only because all my friends have kids that all consider me their Aunt. If I include all the kids of my friends and family it would add up to 50 people (that is kids alone, not parents!!)
I am having my nephews, and his nieces included in the wedding party (flowergirls and ring bearer). But that is all the kids I am having. I am getting grief from all ends on this topic. I would love to have them all there.. But it will be a kid overload if they all come.
And what stinks even more is that all those kids know i am getting married and they keep saying how they cannot wait to go.. UGH..
The whole situtation stinks.

Re: those who are not having children at the wedding
My family is ok with this. They feel that a wedding is a place where adults should have a good time. MY FMIL hates the idea. We gave into her and are only having 2 little children there (my FI's two little cousins 8 and 11).

Re: those who are not having children at the wedding
We initially wanted children.. we love kids, but our families, said we were crazy. and we asked a few of our friends with kids, and they said they don't want to bring there kids, they want to leave their kids at home..
