Thoughts on Honeymoon registries??

Thoughts on Honeymoon registries??

So we finally booked our flight, and we reserved our room, but will put the deposit on the room tomorrow..when we do I'll post a check thread!!! I am SOOO excited.

So I set up a Honeymoon registry through Sandals. I figured that is the easiest even though they do charge small fees. The reason I did it is that some friends specifically asked about giving us experience gifts and what we'd like, so it's great.

I know my shower invites were put together yesterday (my family is soooo bad at being sneaky) and that they did NOT include the Sandals info.

My mom says she's never heard of it before and thinks it's strange. To me I think it's become the norm, and it's a choice. They still have my traditional registries from Macy's and W-S to choose from.. What do you think in general about honeymoon registries?

I put both ':contribution to the honeymoon' in $25, $50 and $100 increments and about 4 excursions we'd like to do, and 2 spa treatments. I think people will moreso go for the excursions and spa treatments because then they feel they're giving a gift. Do you think this is something people are more likely to do for the shower or the wedding? I guess it's good for the wedding to because it gives people the option to give a 'cash' gift without giving cash, and they can actually put it on a CC.

I like the idea but it's hard to get the message out there. Do you have a wedding website? Will your guests check this to find out if you are registered anywhere?

I wanted to sign up for honeymoon registry but I think we will AFTER the shower.

I put it on the wedding website. The info for it was on the STD

I was going to do it... but it really annoys me to think some company is skimming off of our gift money. I know its a service etc. etc... but then you get taxed on it when you use it. I am not a fan. I think Sandals should consider doing it for free just as any store you walk into does it for free. The fee annoys me personally. I just told my mom that if my regular registry is all sold out then to tell people we could use some honeymoon spending money

I think it is a good idea!

Since we don't need a lot of new crap, we did it to give people options if they felt like giving a gift (not in the form of a check or cash) because the pees that are going to give you cash will still give you cash...but the people that might have given you a random gift might go off the HM registry instead. I have gotten a few things from it for my Shower already
