i have a odd situation. im a BM in a wedding coming up in may. the MOH has gone AWOL--her status is unknown at this point.
i want to throw her a bridal shower(because she deserves one!) but im unsure of the proper etiquette. ive heard of some showers that all BM chip in and others where the hostess pays for it in full. i dont know if this makes a difference but im closely related to bride.
any advice and locations (cheap but good food) welcomed!

Re: throwing a bridal shower, who pays??
It was my understanding that the whole bridal party split the cost of the shower. If I'm wrong, please correct me ladies.

Re: throwing a bridal shower, who pays??
it can go either way. In my case my sisters paid for it but I've heard the bridal party splitting the cost. If u're close to her, I'd suggest talking to the other bridesmaids as well as the bride's mom/sisters and see if they have something planned already or if they'd like to plan something for them

im the sister (no other family member to help)...all along i was going to plan it with the MOH (shes a bit bossy, so it would of been me following her orders) I just wanted to know what's the right thing to do.

IMO the whole BP should chip in. Maybe even the mom also. One person shouldnt have to pay the whole bill.

my mom is paying for mine..but if the mother of the bride is awol you can throw it for her..what about having it at your house and the bridesmaids each making food? that way you can keep the costs down and still make it nice and intimate!

i think this is a very reasonable idea and makes a lot of sense...I wouldn't care if mine was held at my parents house

with the exception of a friend who got married at 23 (her mom paid), i've always split the cost of the bridal shower with the bridesmaids.

Yea, I went to one at a girls house in the summer. It was nice outside and everyone brought something and a gift...it was fun and no pressure to fit it into a certain amount of time cause it was just at the house
