FH and I are paying for this wedding ourselves. I see some of the prices people are paying on here and what my friends are spending (or spent) and I can't believe it!!! I am trying to stay under $20,000. So far i have estimated $17,000 is anyone else in the same boat as me? I am having a hard time with halls because even tho i have found some 'cheaper' halls that are nice it just still seems like such a high price when you add it all up! its a bit stressful!
just needed to vent I hope I am not alone here lol

you are not alone, we are trying to stay under 25000, but it is so hard because our reception hall took more than half of it. Everything is so expensive and we are paying for everything.

We are definately in the same boat. Every time we see a vendor and my FH and I get home...he says 'I need a drink'. Its so stressfull and honestly we don't have any clue how we are paying for it all by next year...and each individual deposit fee is killing us right now. Its rough and super stressfull. Where have you looked for the reception? If you need some tips or places to look FM me.

it is extremely hard! i mean, just the band, photo, video and flowers is easily $13000 and that is going with a less expensive photo and video and not going crazy with flowers!!!
i didnt book them yet but that is what i've added up in my head add in a honeymoon, wedding bands, gown, etc

Don't worry. My FI and I are trying to stay within out limit too. WHat has helped us so far is we prioritized what is important to us. We cut out the videographer, a family member is recording the important parts for us. My sister is making the favors as a gift. Our focus is good food and music. I will splurge a little on my dress. My accessories are my mom's jewels. SO, I feel like little things like this really make a difference. I hope this helps

You are not alone! I am *hoping* to budget for 25K but the hall I fell in love with took almost 1/3 of that.....I am saving by nixing professional video, my ceremony is at the location so no limo, i am getting a digital copy of the photography and making a book myself from MyPublisher.com, I am having a friend be the DJ and play songs off an IPod, candle centerpieces with few flowers probably from a supermarket (they are just as nice and cheap!), I am hoping to get a dress

I am from upstate NY where weddings are VERY different. I decided to go with winter to save money as well as a Friday. I'm not skimping at all and I'm right on schedule with my budget. I'm pulling off an under $11,000 wedding.

My FH and I are on a tight budget too. We are paying for most of it ourselves. What we did was make a list of priorities and we are going from there.
For us its DJ and photography (in that order) then we will look at video, limos and flowers. We are probably not doing flower centerpieces to save some money. My sister spent 110 a piece (12 tables) on flower centerpieces and I will not do that! She said looking back on it that she would have put that money elsewhere.
Thankfully we both have small families so we will be having between 110-140 at the wedding which will help us too.
Dont feel like you are the only one. Most of us probably are.

i have done pretty well so far. i got a package from wedding world the includes 2limos and a rolls royce, tuxes, flowers,video and photo for about $5000

I should have said that differently. My upstate values kicked in for my wedding planning but I am getting married down here. At the Riviera in Massapequa. Not skimping too badly either!

i know how you guys feel. me and FH are trying to stay under 25 also. the RH has already taken out a huge chunk. so we're gonna try and prioritize. hopefully it'll work out

The thing that is breaking me is the minimum requirement. My bill is based on the minimum right now so any extra over that plus vendors meals, and tipping. All that is going to add up.

Were in the same situation as you. Nothing to fancy. So far everyone has told me the most important thing at a wedding is the food and the music. I estimate that those two will be my biggest costs. If you tell all the vendors this is my bottom line. what can you do for me?' They seem to really want to work with you. Hope it all works out. If you get any good flower deals let me know, cause i'm still looking

i dont know how my budget got so big! well, i do....we have big families and our guest list is about 250...well, not i think we are down to 230 (we were able to cut a few ppl off...)....so if everyone comes (which i doubt) RH alone is about 21K!! we are already having a daytime wedding. i really should just budge and switch our date, b/c it is just too much. all the vendors are also so expensive, it is unreal, all for just one day. we are paying for most of things ourselves. my parents wish they could help more, but they really cant afford it, so i could never do that to them! if anyone has any good vendor quotes or ways i can save $ on extras, please let me know.

We are in the same boat. I'm not trying to spend more than $20,000 b/c my mom is footing the bill. I haven't begun to look at halls yet but FH and I are only inviting 150 people. So my advice to you is to do your research in everything you do. You can cut costs by buying a cheaper dress, inviting less people, do alot of DIY, etc.

I feel like every time I go to buy the littlest thing....I pause and ask myself if this is going to take away from the seat cover fund I have going ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
