Time between ceremony and reception?

Hi.
So the FI and I are getting married in a church only a few minutes away from our venue. Literally between 2-5 minutes. How much time between the end of the ceremony and the start of the reception should we have?

I want to have enough time to take pictures at the church and at the venue. (We won't be taking pictures together before the wedding ceremony)

Our 'cocktail hour' is really ~ 1 1/2+ hours and starts at 4pm with guests able to enter the venue around 3:30pm. I'd prefer not to miss the entire thing if possible.

Any advice would be appreciated, especially from previous brides!

Thanks!!

Are you doing a long or short ceremony? I am Catholic and FH is Jewish. We are getting married at a church but opted for the 20 min ceremony as opposed to the hour, since his side of the fam is not Catholic.

Re: Time between ceremony and reception?

Well, I'm not getting married in my parish.

We're going to have to go and speak to the priest to discuss the details of the time and what kind of ceremony we are having. That's why I'm asking about time between end of ceremony and reception to take pictures, but not have guests waiting too long. I have to let him know when I want the ceremony to begin and for what type of ceremony we want.

I just want to figure out a good time frame before we go and speak with him about details.

To comfortably take pictures, I would say to give yourself at least an hour and 15 min b/t end of ceremony and beginning of cocktail hour.
