Time for Alterations-Should I go to Davids?

It`s time for my first fitting and I know the dress needs to be hemmed. (I bought it off the rack and it`s been sitting under my mother`s bed since August!) I bought the dress at David`s and they told me to bring it back around this time for the alterations, however, I`ve heard some bad things about them and I`m not sure if I should. I heard one or two things on this site, but it was a long time ago (I`ve been on this site for about a year). Can anyone recommend a good seamstress? What do you think?

Time for Alterations-Should I go to Davids?

I also bought my dress at David's almost a year ago. My wedding is this June. I live in Sayville and didn't feel like treking back to Carle Place to David's, I also heard bad things about them. So I went to Paradise Bridals in Patchouge (my girls got their bridesmaid dresses there). THEY ARE THE BIGGEST BUNCH OF CROOKS AT PARADISE BRIDALS!!!! They are charging me $330 for the following... a hem (my dress is only 1 layer at the bottom), 10 bustles, cups & pressing. They tell me this after I'm all pinned up. I knew the costs of everything but the hem, and was fine with it. Can you believe they are charging $150 for a freaking hem??? But they totally have me, I need my dress to fit me on my wedding day. My advice is to definitely ask before you go to see what alterations would be and don't use Paradise Bridals!!!!

Time for Alterations-Should I go to Davids?

My second fitting at Davids is on the 18th. I can post back and tell you how it went if you want me too. No matter where you go, you never know. My feeling was that they work with my dress often and God forbid something goes wronge, they can get me a new one.
