Time for LIW brides to be honest

Original post by myasmom

I consider myself to have formed an online realtionship with many of you

With that said....
Is it me or has anyone else noticed that its the weddings that spent $$$$$ that get considered to be the best wedding ever but the ones that did not cost as much $$ or at lesser known places dont get the same raves.

This is not a personal attack or anything...just an observation, not only from myself but from other members who some of us havent even realized are not posting as frequently anymore...

I really htink that its time we all realize that its not the place, the flowers or anything like that that make a wedding beautiful. When u look at the pictures..are the guests smiling or is it just a pretty room...seriously...what do you think makes a wedding beautiful?

P>S I am not trying to start an argument or anything..just curious...I have gotten alot of FMS and just wanted to feel out some of my fellow brides & B2B's!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Holy freakin cr@p!!!

I am a little drunk and I just read that whole thing and I am laughing and crying and shaking and need to pee real bad too.

What a whirlwind!

I think everything that needs to be said has been said on the matter. I am usually one for some good psychoanalyitcal reading between the posts. But...people! Brilliant.

This was just brilliant.

Are there archives? Anyone? Archives? Hello? LIW archives? Preservation of some of the more hilarios posts I have ever read?

Did anyone else make it to the end of this?????

Anyone!?

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I envy you! This thread made me wish I was drunk! If I have a drink now, I will fall right asleep. You gave me a laugh though.

That is what makes a marriage. That is what makes the day special. I have a good friend that is getting divorced after 3 years and a 100,000 wedding that wasn't even them. I spent 35,000. I feel good......

I know that you did not mean this to be mean and had good intentions, but at the other side of the spectrum, I sometimes feel like people justify their less expensive weddings over the more expensive ones and kind of hint that because someone had an expensive wedding they are more likely to get divorced or miss the meaning of the wedding. There is really no correlation there. There are people out there who have lavish weddings and their marriages last and are wonderful.
The world is not perfect and equal and we learn this lesson time and time again in life. You don't have to look far to see someone who has a larger bank account, someone whose parents bought them a house while others are eating ramen noodles to save money, someone who has a free ride in college while others are paying off debts. The point is- and many here have touched on it- there could be the most wonderful weddings for many price ranges.
OK,that was my .02. I promise, I am done!

That was more like .05 cents, lol. hehehe j/k

I have not even talked about my wedding on this thread yet, so the extra .03 cents can be for me.

I am so with you!! My bat mitzvah was at Water's Edge. It was unbelievable! My parents are still like, 'you owe me your life'. LOL!!!!

Fabu!! I still have to try the food, was it good? lol

Yes, I agree.

ETA: I thought you meant what LIW'ers think.

Outside of LIW, I would say no because even though we had our wedding at a less expensive place, my guests are still raving about it. The food was phenomenal, the DJ's were great, the flowers stayed fresh for days I was told. So with that said, I guess it depends on the perspective.

I am still standing!!!!!!!!!!! (Actually sobering up a bit. sigh.)

The thread ultimately had to do with some peoples MAJOR insecurities (about money, jealousy, postings, taking the boards WAY too seriously, etc)...then it had to do with those insecurities being pointed out, and the subsequent defensiveness and caddiness and silliness and hilarity that erupted from it...from everyone.

Personally, I thought it was brilliant entertainment for this gals friday night.

Who needs reality TV???

oct2004 - you were the other one who had some great stuff to say to, uh, the more ...petty posters.
