Time frame

How far in advance do you send out invitations? Is 6 weeks standard? What about response cards? How long should you allow? I need to give my final count to the Carlyle 2 weeks prior. I'm thinking of sending invitations out the week of June 3rd, and ask for responses by July 9th for my 8/2 wedding. Advice?? Thanks :) Continued success to all...

I sent my invitations out on Saturday and my wedding is May 11th - so that's about 2 months in advance. My response cards are due back by April 20th. We don't have to give out catering hall the final count until 3 days before.

Time frame

Sending the invitations out roughly 6-8 weeks prior is acceptable. Keep in mind that there will be those few people who will not send back the resonse card. (Usually they are family members. For my wedding they said that they didn`t send the reply back, because they assumed I knew they were coming) I made my sister in charge of calling those people so I wouldn`t have to be bothered. Since you have to give the final count early, you can give them a lower head count. They will never have a problem adding people, but they usually won`t lower the count.
