I tried , once before to respond to Laura''s observations and the message was not posted. I''ll try one more time. I am the Bandleader of Timepiece and I would like to clear up some terribly misleading statements that Laura has made. Laura stated that the band played quite a few songs,BEFORE the bridal party entered the room. She felt that this was odd.It is not 'odd' for a band to play before the bridal party enters the room. Timepiece starts playing the minute the guests walk into the room because these people need to be relaxed and entertained, even before bridal party entry. That is what this band is there for, and the guests, as well as the bride, groom, and parents really enjoy it.
Laura stated that the announcement was made that dinner was being served, when it was not dinner time yet.. The actual announcement was 'please remain seated as your dinner orders are about to be taken'. This is common protocol in every wedding, unless it is buffet style. In that case, no orders are necessary.
Yes, we do some instrumental music, during the breaks. It was not mentioned that the keyboardist plays a little bit of standards, pop, etc., and then he is replaced by the 2 piece horn section, performing contmporary jazz set. From time to time, a vocalist may come up and do a classic or broadway tune..That is what continuous music means and that is what Timepiece does.
It was mentioned that there was total silence while they took a college picture. It was not mentioned that this idea was presented to me just as the band was about to go on, nor was it mentioned that the annoucement had to be made 3 times before everyone started to move. This quick picture took about 20 minutes to complete...20 minutes with 30 or so people standing in the middle of the dance floor??? What kind of music should we be playing??? The bottom line was that the Bride and Groom were happy. They were very cool people and it was a pleasure to accomodate them every step of the way.
The floor was packed when the band performed and we received lots of loud applause and thanks , after the wedding.
Everyone may not like a high energy dance band, but that''s all about YOUR PERSONAL TASTE. Some will prefer a band that just stands there, all night.
Finally, the most troubling comment was that there was a relation ship and 'Tongue kissing' between Our Female vocalist and a blonde singer. There are no blondes in this band. The guitarist was also mentioned. Unfortunately for the rumors, he is married with 3 kids and I am married with 2. Tongue kissing the vocalist would not be a very smart move for either one of us. In short, if the Bride and groom''s families were happy and the response from the crowd was as good as it was, there should be more 'bad bands like us'.
As for sitting on the stage, the singers had to stand on the floor, because the stage wasn''t very deep. Don''t mis-understand....It was a nice stage, but a 9 piece band can get a little
crowded. The singers may have sat on it before we went back on,since the stage is only about 3 feet high.I can''t honestly say, because I wasn''t watching as closely as Laura was. Finally, regardless to whether you choose Timepiece or any other band, the breaktime and number of breaks will be determined by the size of your crowd and the number of courses you will have. There appeared to be well over 200 people at the wedding. Taking their orders and serving their dinners would have naturally taken longer.
In conclusion, to whom ever writes in with their criticisms, whether about bands or DJ''s, please understand that a first time bride will be petrified, to no end, by genralized statements. This band averages almost 100 weddings, per year. There''s a reason for that.Anyone wishing to see some of the congratulatory letters and recommendations that Timepiece has receieved should contact the Franklin Wayne Agency, in Smithtown. They will be glad to show some of them to you.
Sincerely,
WayneS (Timepiece)

Timepiece Feedback...nice response!!!
I just want to say that I think Wayne's feedback and response to the criticism of Timepiece seems very reasonable and understandable from the band's perspective.
He was also very professional in his response, unlike some limosine vendors we have seen on this board.
To Timepiece's credit, sometimes things happen during a wedding that are not planned for, and the band does need to improvise as best they can.
I don't think that anyone should be concerned about the job this band will do at their celebrations. I did not use them for my wedding, but they earned my respect with such a dignified response to criticism.
I applaud Timepiece and the rest of the Franklin Wayne bands!

Timepiece Feedback...nice response!!!
My report of the wedding was just that my opinion-- this was a guests view of the night-- not meant to ruin anyone elses' experience-- as for the silence it was an observation which did occur- as for the dinner reference --what i had said was that when dinner was being served the band took a break -and dinner was not served to anyone at that point- sometimes this is the halls fault--
as for the tongue wagging--this did occur because i witnessed it--so whether it was part of the act that is another story-- and yes i know that the families were happy--but that doesnt take away from what i observed--
as for vendors defending themselves--they have that perogative-- i was never against it on this board--only when they posed as brides-
I think your response to my post was fine but I also think it is my perogative to post

Timepiece Response
Wayne..
Let me say that your response has put me at ease. No matter what happened that night I am glad to see you have pride in what youdo and are concerned about your customers. Especially considering we have booked you for our 10/5/02 wedding.
The only critism I have is that because of the problems on this board earlier in the year, this post should have only been on the vendor board. I was one of the people who would have preferred vendors and brides on a single board but considering the rules have been set, they should be followed. Im sure you did not intentionally break the rules. But I do hope to see you participate along with all of the other vendors on the vendor board.
Laura...
Please don't feel that your commentary was not appreciated. I certainly appreciated it and Im sure other brides did too.

For Laura...
I hope you don't misunderstand my comments regarding Wayne's response. I am not discounting your right to post an opinion at all. I respect everything that you said, based upon your experiences.
I just wanted to express my gratitude to Wayne for remaining (somewhat)dignified in his explanation of the points you raised. Although, Stef made a very good point that he should have posted to the Vendor board, but at least he didn't try to disguise his identity, like another vendor did (Coachman Limos).
I agree he should not try to discount your opinion, as one vendor (Dynasty Limos) tried to do to me, when I posted my feedback to other brides about them.
No offense meant, and none taken I hope!

For Laura...
No I completely understand-- I even went back and reread my posts-- I was just being honest on the things that would have bothered me-- and all in all it was a great night---
and I know what you mean about vendors I had an incident on here with a limo company as well

Vendors posting on our board
A video vendor mentioned to me that only advertising vendors can post on the vendor board. Perhaps LIWeddings should open that up to more vendors so that non-advertising vendors do not need to use our board to response.
And I agree with everyone, Wayne identified himself in his post. That is very fair.
