i *think* they get part of what goes to the matire'd...unless guests tip them. either way, i don't think we need to give them a seperate tip

I've heard that if you throw them some money in the beginning they take extra special care of your guests.

Check with your catering hall to see who is covered by the gratuity.

Yea, I heard this too... but I was already told by some of my friends that they will take care of it!

I used to work at a catering hall as a bartender- we never saw any tips- the matrie'd wont share- trust me

Holy $hit, when will this tiping end. I do not think I am going to tip them, maybe a little bit in the beginning of the night so they keep the drinks coming

I really hate when they put a tip jar out, though! I may tip them beforehand (I will ask the hall if they share the tip).

that is tacky- most places don't allow that

Hey, FH is a restaurant cook. I wish tipping the cook was the norm. Good thing he loves doing it.

I am tipping the bartenders - my hall told me about this before I booked. I really prefer my guests not to tip anyone i.e. bartenders, coat check person, valet parking attendants.

yeah, sweet - our 'service charge' is 22% in nyc!!!! when does the madness end?
