Tip Envelopes!
Very nice idea... A tip is not something you HAVE to do. Since you already paying them for their services. If they went above and beyond what was in the scope of their services than a tip and/or a nice review would be in order. But my planner told me, most vendors would rather have a great review than a tip.

I'm not sure i agree with that thinking. Sure, it's not something you HAVE to do... But it is pretty standard (& expected) to tip vendors/people who are giving you a service. Of course if their service winds up being horrible, then a tip (or rather a good tip) is not required, as it is not up to standards. But I highly doubt my say, photographer's assistant or the person delivering the flowers to my home would prefer a good review on a message board over a monetary tip... haha.
I work in an industry where tips ARE expected & I'd never not tip someone because I didn't feel like it was necessary. Just my opinion.

I think you need to tip the photographer, videographer, limo guys (each guy), DJ (each guy), florist, Maitre D, Bridal attendant...I think that is it but I feel like I am forgetting someone.

I guess...I just don't get the whole 'here's a tip for doing what you were contracted AND paid to do.' An assistant is one thing, but the actual business owner(photographer, DJ, etc.), doesn't make sense to me. Like I said, if they went out of what was agreed upon in our contract, I can see. (If the photographer help set up my decor or my DJ help served dinner.) But not for doing the job they were hired to do. If the DJ played music and kept the crowd entertained all night, he did his job. They are expected to perform well, which is why I hired them. And for the record, I do tip at restaurants and some hotels! LOL

Tip Envelopes!
Assistants and the limo drivers I would tip, because they are working for someone else. But not the person who runs the business.

Iwould tip everyone if I had the money LOL but my sister just got married and she researched the whole tip thing online & also found that you are not required to tip the photo/video or florist since they are the owners of the company - the assistants yes, but the owners? no. Any one else you would tip.
If you think about it, when you tip at restaurants & other places, you are tipping the people that work for the owners (wait staff, hair dressers, etc.), not the owner of the restaurant or hotel.
It just gets so expensive!

Re: Tip Envelopes!
I have never worked for tips but I strongly agree a tip is needed for service. I think that it is expected since we are from Long Island and other areas might get away without tipping.Just be aware, that you get what you pay for. For example, if your photographer tells you 4-6 weeks for your proofs, you will most likely be waiting 6 weeks. You might not be a priority. I am not saying that they will not do a good job, but they will not go above and beyond.

I might not be a priority because I didn't give a tip??? HE should make me a priority because I paid him to do a job. I will most certainly expect to get what I paid for, especially if I'm spending over $5,000 for photos and video (which I am-yikes!) so I'd expect him to deliver. Me not giving him a tip, should not determine whether or not he does what he's supposed to do. Which again, the whole tip thing doesn't make sense.

CALM DOWN! I said that they will DO their job or up hold their obligations stated in your contract. I never said you won't get what you paid for. I am simply stating that if your photographers has two brides that weekend, maybe the bride who tips will see her photos first. That's what I meant by priority.

I knew what you meant lol. And if that's the way they run business, then let me know ahead of time so I can run in the other direction! Give a tip and you get better service? No thanks. And I'd want him to spend time making my pictures perfect anyway so...
