I want to FINALIZE this budget. I need to know who to tip and how much. I have read posts, but need to go over this with you.

1. Do I tip valet and wait staff?
2.Maitre D (2-3 dollars per person)
3.Bridal Attendant (how much?????)
4. DJ (50$)
5. Photo (50$)
6.Video (50$)
7. String Trio (???????????)
8. Florist (??????????)
9. Make up (????????)
10. Hair (??????????)

Help me please, I need a lot of amounts filled in, and I have no clue if I am missing anyone. Also at what point do you tip people? End of wedding???

Oh, me too!! BTW - do i need to tip my florist if she owns her own business??
also - we are using Imagine for photo/video (who also own their own business) but shouldn't we tip them too? Or maybe just their assistants?

Is that the rule? If they own their own business than dont tip???

Re: Tipping Issues

We tipped our photographer several hundred because he's part of a studio and he's not the owner.
We didn't tip the valet people but they were tipped by our guests.
We tipped $20 to each person that delivered the flowers
Our band (9 people and sound) got $50 each, which was a little more than 10% of the total.
Didn't tip the florist, because he's the owner
Maitr d' got about $300 which was a bit more than somewhere between $1-$2 per person
The event coordinator was tipped $250

I think we also tipped the head chef, although the 20% gratuity paid for everyone else in the kitchen, the bathroom attendant, coat room attendant and the wait staff. At least that's what they told us at Harrison House.

Re: Tipping Issues

It is a general rule not to tip someone if they are the owner of the business, but if you feel they deserve one - go ahead.

I probably won't tip the florist, but I will tip the delivery people.

I'm still trying to figure out the rest, but I'm going to keep some extra cash on hand, just in case.

Do you tip the hair and makeup person if they work for themselves. They pocket all the money you pay them anyway. What's the etiquette on this?

tipping.

We tipped each photographer $50
The wait staff got 20%
The executive staff (Maitre'd, Chef, Captains) were given $1200 to split - probably between 100-150pp.
My bridal attendant was given $100
The guy who delivered my flowers was given $20
My hair lady was given $20
Make up $60 for 4 girls ($15 a girl)
Limo drivers $120 for 3
Valets- didn't tip- guests did that.
Band members $50 each- one guy gave me his tip as a wedding present to me- how sweet is that- they are all friends of my Mom & StepDad. It was a 12 piece band, so that was a pretty penny.
The officicant got $50
