We could have ANOTHER party for all the $$ in TIPPING! lol.

MY place, I hear, EXPECTS a $1200 TIP for the maitre d'! I want to throw up! lol. I could get TWO chocolate fountains for that!

And, um... is it really customary to tip the hairdresser/make up person, if you're already paying them? It's not like we're paying a SALON, if they're coming to our house. If anything, maybe 10-20 bucks each? All these tips ADD UP!

Sorry, but it is normally customary to pay tips to the hair/makeup person. I honestly feel, though, that tips should be what you can afford and/or based on the services provided. All of these are just guidelines.

The sad thing is you tip the md and they will keep it all, the wait staff never see a penny and they are the ones doing the physical labor, the md just directs them. I will give less to the md, and make sure the waiters at least get 20 each.

my reception hall told me it's customary to tip the maitre-d $3-$5 p/p and the bridal attendant gets $1 p/p. seriously i don't undersatnd this when there is built in 18% gratuity. but they were saying it's just like at a restaurant you would put a tip and i'm like not when there is built in gratuity, and in this case there is. i felt like if it was such an excellent job i would WANT to tip anyway but if it's just standard work, then whatever.

i think for limo drivers i would tip maybe $50 and for delivery ppl $20. Hair/makeup honestly I wouldnt' tip SOOO much b/c i feel we are paying good money p/p for the service maybe an add'l $20.

photography/videography maybe $50 each.

this tipping nonsense drives me crazy though b/c i seriously feel like it's sooo much extra money and you can have another party for that!!!!

AND by calling it a 'service charge', instead of a 'gratuity', the hall is allowed to add 8.625% sales tax onto that fee as well! Ha!

I know this is silly, but why do you have to tip your photographer and DJ? You are paying them already. I understand coat check and limo and hair/nails. Plus u are paying for them to have dinner.

I dont mean to sound cheap, but I feel like if you are paying someone $1000 thats what they get, they shouldn't get $1000 + $100 tip, if that is the case then why not just charge me $1100?

Also, why do you have to pay on top of the included service charges?

I'm not positive about what the policy is on the photographer, but my brother who is an assistant, usually gets a tip.
