Did you do Pre-Cana at the church you are getting married at or did you do it somewhere else??
And if you did it at some other church.....was it a church listed in the Diocese of Rockville Centre booklet they give to you, or no??
How much was the fee you paid? Ive seen anywhere from 50 dollars to a couple hundred.
I was wondering if it is possible to do Pre-Cana at a church other then the one you are getting married at or any of the 4 or 5 they list in the booklet they give out....I cant believe the Diocese program is 250 dollars!!!!

We did it through the church we are getting married at. It was a $60 fee. Ours wasn't at the church itself though - it was at a host family's house and we met every monday for four weeks (they ended it a week short for us). I would call your church and ask if you can do it at another church. I agree the $250 the diocese charges is insane!

We did pre-cana through our own church and we went to the home of a married couple for meetings once a week for like a month... it cost $50.

Re: To all my ladies who did or will do Pre-Cana.....
We did our pre-cana through the dioceses. It cost us $250 for our FOCUS and our Pre-Cana weekend. We chose not to do it at our parish because of our schedules, especially FH's who has a rotating night schedule, which made most pre-cana sessions impossible to attend.
We went 2 weekends ago- Saturday & Sunday (not overnight) and it was an enjoyable experience. It was at Kellenberg HS.
Good Luck!

Re: To all my ladies who did or will do Pre-Cana.....
We did it at the church where we are getting married, and there were couples there who were getting married elsewhere. It cost $65.
FM me if you want more information - I had a horrible experience with pre-Cana, though. If you FM, I'll tell you the church and you can always ask for a different couple than I had.
ETA - Our church did not require the FOCCUS test (or however it's spelled!)

We're actually doing ours in Pittsburgh, PA since FH and I are both there for school... our priest was very good about helping us so that it was more convenient. In Pittsburgh you do this weekend retreat thing... should be interesting!

We did not do pre-cana where we're getting married. They let us do it at our local parish in Hoboken. It was one day from about 9-4, and cost $90 (I think).
It's up to your church - some allow you to take it outside the RVC Diocese, others don't. I think it also depends on your reason - I live out of state and don't plan on moving back to LI, so the priest didn't see the need for us to have it there.

We padi the 250 but it was well worth it. Our church was booked up. I suggest the Emmanuel Center in uniondale because they have a cool courtyrad with fish, ducks, nature. We ate luch both days out there. Very romantic!!!

We live far away so we did ours at a church where we are. We paid about $300 but ours was a weekend retreat so we were paying for lodging and food. The cost was fine, it was a really great experience!

We did it at the church we are getting married at and paid $90. Our church runs their own outside of the RVC one and is one day.
You don't have to do it at the church you are getting married at. You can always do it someplace else--as long as you get it done.

Pre-Cana is a mandatory class (or series of classes) you have to take in order to get married in the Catholic church.
