To all the Yankee fans

If the Yankees were in last place, would you still be the die hard fans you are now

Of course. I have been a Yankee fan since I was 2 1/2 years old, so I have see some good and in the 80's lots of bad days.

I love your avatar.

absolutely YES.

I've been a fan since a child .. my first memory of Yankee Stadium is at about age 4, vs. Boston (of course that made SOME impression!) And I've loved them ever since, even through the horrible 80s..

I know the Yankees haven't had as many tough years as some other teams , but even if they were rock bottom every year, it COULDN'T change my love or loyalty for them. They are in my blood

Yes, I've been a fan since I was 2 years old.

I was 16 before I saw the Yanks win a World Series, and my favorite player of all time, Don Mattingly, NEVER won a world series.

I have a Teddy Bear named after him.

I'm sure you understand that being a fan is NOT about championships, it's about the love.

Having championships just feels REALLY good though.

LOL

Im a Dallas Cowboy Fan.. Im used to having my team hated for just being legendary.

Its all good.. Just jealousy.

Am I die hard Yankee fan? I don't think so..but i get angry at them and watch their progress and I still say that if Jorge Posada is having a good day at the plate the boys gotta better chance at winning!!

So you tell me.. am I a fan?

ETA:
I tell people I've been a fan of Silver and Blue since before i knew what Silver and blue were!! hehe Born and raised a Cowboy fan. Gotta respect fans who stick with it.

Well, I've always loved the Yankees, and I've seen them down and out, so the answer would of course be yes.

But, for every five of you that are diehards, that rooted for them at their worst, there are a hundred fair weather Yankee fans that jumped on the bandwagon in 1996

Trust me, when the Mets won the Series uin 1986 -- there were more Met jerseys worn around town then you could imagine -- now, you never see them. The Mets went through the same thing -- so will the Yanks.

The Yankee phenomenon started in 1996. Now, Yankee jerseys are fashionable because they are winning. Wait till they start losing. The diehards like you will stay but a good 50% of the fans will take cover. Just like the 1994 Rangers. In 1994, you couldn't even find a Ranger jersey -- now they're struggling to get people to come to the games.

And I TOTALLY agree with you. I was just being a pain. But I guess it makes sense that it works that way. Do people go see movies that suck? No, they want to see movies that are good. Same thing with sports. The masses want to see 'their' team win, so they flock to whatever team that may be at the moment. It's annoying.

It's true.. I know a friend of the FW (who's father had Ed Kranepool come to dinner at their house).. and he said to me.. (he's a Yank fan out of a WHOLE family of Mets fans)

This is from the mouth of a die-hard Yankee fan.. 'I won't mind when they drop a notch just to get rid of all these fair weather fans.'

It's weird. in high school.. we used to LAUGH at the Yankee fans.. and it wasn't funny either at some points.. and that's coming from ME!

Anyways.. I totally respect the Yankee fans who suffered through th 80's and early 90's. You guys have ALL my respect. I remember how tough it was to be a Yankee fan in like 1985- 89 especially. Talking to diehard Yank fans, '89 seemed like the worst.

One thing that gets me going is during the playoff games when Fox broadcasts a game and they have the cast of whatever show at the ballgame. That angers me so much. At least put some REAL Yankee fans there.

Just like Hillary Clinton, right? But I digress... hehe

Real Yankee fans don't care if the cast of Ally McBeal is in attendance at the game... Or so the rumor goes... LOL J/K!

BTW.. Love the Rangers.. but God.. so hard to believe how many things are wrong with this team. It's scary.

these girls FH works with claim to be diehard Yankee fans, yet they didn't even know there was a game last night...

Re: To all the Yankee fans

Hello.

I am a friend of OctGroomed. I am a die-hard Yankee fan since 1998. The best Ynkee ever is Derek Jeter. He's much better than Mikey Mantle. I will always root for the Yannes.

I HATE the Mets. They suck. Their fans are fools who come back year after year and root for them every year even when they have no shot at winning. The Mets do not know how to spend money.. but the Yankes sure do.

The Yankees play in the best stadium.. with the best players money can buy. Why would you not want to back a winner?

Sure.. maybe the Mets were cool in the 80's.. maybe I even saw a couple of games.. maybe I was happy when they won it. It's still doesn't matter. I have loved the Yankees ever since 1998. I bleed Yankee blew.

I hate the Red Sox too.. They are a bad team from Boston. Boo Sox.

Thank you.

Signed,
Dude.

Take it from someone who is a fan of a team that's always in last place...I would never give up on them. I will always be a met fan.

A fan is a fan and you have to continuing being that even if your team is in last place. That is a true fan.
