To anyone with w/weddings this weekend

I don''t mean to intrude (I haven''t read any of postings), but for anyone interested, this is what I''m telling my photographers and couples for this weekend: Many people are going to want to 'let go' and have a release. They might be looking forward to a celebration to forget the horror of this week. One coping mechanism is to distract from the feelings and get on with life. That of course would be fine for your party. There are others (like myself) who just can'''t shake the feelings and the weight is unbearable. IF this is the mood of the people at the party and the band/DJ are trying to get people to dance and have a good time and it''s not happening, then an alternate would be to find appropriate music that would match the mood in the room. It could be awkward and if the band or DJ (especially DJs in general, who often think that they are only successful if everyone is dancing) are having and awkward time making it work, than alternate music might be light background so people can talk and comfort each other (classical, jazz) OR perhaps uplifting music or anything that would be appropriate. (WFUV radio, 90.7 has been playing extraordinary music + you might want to get their playlist) Often a large group of people takes on the same mood, and it might be easy to read. All I''m saying is to be as appropriate as possible to deal with this extraordinary tragedy while you have a celebration that will be meaninful in whatever way that is honest and true. Celebrating life is certainly a positive expression to deal with impossible circumstances (my wife and I bought plants to give life to on Wed. as some kind of positive expression of our feelings.) Anyway, I hope this has bee helpful in some small way and my heartfelt best wishes to all. Sincerely, Mark Kauffman

p.s.

Oops! I inadvertently deleted my last thread (with the responses!) when I went in to correct some apostrophe mistakes. I must say that I'm really proud of my photographers and customers for how they've been dealing with this horror. Not one couple has been egocentric about the difficulties of having a celebration this weekend. They've all been just going with it with as positive an attitude as possible. It's really nice to be able to stay with the real feelings and not have to 'act happy' or whatever. Thank you to everyone for staying real.
