I don't think it is. I think it's got a kind of retro vibe to it with the lampshade, while the base of it is kind of modern.

ETA: I think it's funky and cool. Different, but not in a bad way. I like it.

I think it depends on the vibe your going for. I think it's def retro. I like the stand just not sure about the lampshade. Although, if a room was drapped entirely in white fabric and very modern it might work.

Seems like people are giving the base a thumb-up. Might want to keep it in mind and try out different types of lampshades. I personally love a retro look, but it's definitely not for everyone

please don't take this wrong, but at first I thought it was a clear/glass d i l d o with a lamp shade on it.. then I actually LOOKED at it. I really like it, minus the shade.
I think with the shade would be great as a CH CP or if you put a light or candle below it would look great!

Okay - I'm apparently a little challenged this evening - I don't know what it is. If you explain I am happy to give my opinion (and yes I read everyone's responses but still don't quite understand lol - its been a looooooong day)
