Re: To China or Not to China
i picked the blue set b/c here is my reasoning;for the first few years of your married life, you are still going to be traveling to your parents and family's houses for holiday dinners
so, i would imagine that it would be a few years before you break out your fancy china
you'll use it once a year, if that!
and there is a possibilty your taste may change and then you are stuck with $200 plates that you no longer like
2nd.- I rather see my bedding and my kitchen stuff bought off the registry first b/c that is what i need more. Its what i will be using everyday and more of a necessity.
since the place setting is $200 a piece, all your relatives may buy those pieces first and you may be left with a lot of items off the registry that were not purchased
i am registering for china but i am intentionally trying to find a cheaper place setting
both place settings are beautiful though! so good luck!
edited for spelling...

Re: To China or Not to China
I did not register for China,. We live together and I know I'll never use the 'good stuff' I registered for new everyday dishes, which I think I really beautiful.

Re: To China or Not to China
wait, did i read it wrong?is it 60 for a 5 piece
and $200 for a complete set of china for a table of 8?
or is it $200 for one place setting?
either way, if you are not a china person, go the cheapest route so that way you have china in the event you host a nice dinner

Re: To China or Not to China
Personally, I like the blue. It is different from typical China and if you are not too into china, why go for the more expensive. I dunno, its just my personal feelings on the matter. originally I wasnt going to register for it either, but when would I ever buy it for myself, right? So, I guess I will who knows maybe I'll be glad I did.

After thinking about I have changed my mind. I originally voted the blue, but now I think the silver. I heard that your china should last a lifetime if you use it on occassion and properly store it. Get the more expensive stuff.
The silver set is the less expensive stuff. It's $199.99 for 8 complete PLACE SETTINGS & an oval platter and vegetable bowl, so I'd be getting all of that, whereas I'd only get 1 place setting for the blue china.
