The FH and I have been to too many places to count and yet the one thing that they all seem to have in common is the ability to either extend the cocktail hour by a half hour and the overall reception by an hour if we chose to have a Viennese Table set up...
So here are my questions:
1. Is it worth the extra money, (average we've been getting is $5 pp), to extend the CH by 30 minutes?
and
2. If we opt for the Viennese Hour should we include it in the original 5 hour package or extend the overall time frame of the party by 1 hour? (average savings to have the VH **during** the last hour of your wedding is almost half the price, i.e. $12 pp for extended time, $7 pp without the time extension) **extra time would include the open bar and service but not necessarily include DJ/Band time - that would be separate**
Let me know what you girls think :)
--If it helps at all, we are having a Saturday evening wedding which will start at approx. 7 pm and go until 11:30ish... 1 am if we have both 'extensions'

Some RH's include it.. At the Inn @ NHP the 1 1/2 hr cocktail hour is standard, but like mentioned, most places will give you it free just to book.. When we visited NRC they ended up throwing in the extra half hour for CH and a VH with the extra time for free... We ended up not booking with them but they were very accomodating as most places will be just to get you to book!! I extended my party with the VH at my hall and am very happy with the choice.

Hospitality before the CH is great, that's really the main reason that we wanted to extend it by the half hour... And you bring up a great point, I think we'll be able to raise the minimum in order to guarantee a better price for things. Thank you so much!!!

we added it, and if I could I would want my wedding to go on all night long lol. But that is not going to happen...ANYWAY do what both you and your FH wants to do it's your day do what makes u both happy

If you have the extra money for it, I say go for it. You want to make sure when you look back in 20 years, you don't regret anything - whether it was not having one or having one and spending a lot of extra money.

Yeah I don't blame ya, I really want it too! And with the extra hour :P Even if I've been up for like 15 hours at that point Id want it to last just a tiny bit longer, I feel like the entire day will just fly by...
And we decided against extending the actual CH by a half hour but making sure that there is an extra 30 minutes in the very beginning of everything for hospitality and so on... We really want to make sure that we don't miss out on our CH because of pictures you know?
