..that is MY question. Are you planning on feeding your vendors (ie, dj/emcee, photo/videographer, etc) at the reception?
I'd like to get some feedback before we make our decision.
TIA!

Re: To feed or not to feed...
we are for the band-- but if we use a preferred vendor, which we are- we don't have to pay for them..
I guess we need to feed photog too-- I think it is common courtesy- after all they are with you for 10 hours of the day basically.
Plus- they don't get the same food as your guests-- should be significantly cheaper.

Summer, I don't think that you 'have' to feed them, but it's somewhat expected.
Bride04, any reason why you're so sure? Have u experienced, or heard of a story to back that up?
My hall said that vendors don't have to be fed, however, if we decide to, they'd give us a discount on their plates.

I am feeding them! I want them to do a good job...
All kidding aside, I think it is the proper thing to do, and most halls give you a discount on their meals...

Well you don't HAVE to feed them. I just think that it is the right thing to do. I fed my vendors and I'm sure they appreciated it. I think it is especially important to feed your photo/video because they are with you all day.

I always thought it was some sort of obligation. Luckily our hall offers a discounted plate price for our vendors

Re: To feed or not to feed...
we are not feeding our band and it's in the contract. the feeding issue was one of the factors in choosing our band, since it would affect the cost for the vendor - recommended vendors at our hall eat for free vs. half price for non-recommended ones. the band that we liked better was not a recommended vendor but they said they didn't need to be fed. we factored that into the cost and booked them.

Yep...but we don't get charged for vendor meals.
I think it is absurd to feed the band. Mine is only playing for four hours. Why do they need to eat? No one pays for my meal when I work an 8 hour day. But I guess it is the right thing to do.

Yeah I get discounted vendor meals as well. I think its like $30 a head or something along those lines. Can't go wrong for that.

We are feeding our vendors. We pay half if they order chicken, I don't understand why it can't be half for all the entrees we are having. and I honostly don't think they will be ordering the chicken.

IMO, I think it's soooo rude, not to feed those who are spending and working the entire day with you--they're human beings for goodness sake and need to eat.

Re: To feed or not to feed...
You guys are right. It's only right to feed the vendors. We definitely will feed the photo/videographer... however, what I'm up in the air about is the DJ/MC. The photo/video is with us allll day. And the dj is only there for 4 hours. But if I feed the photo/video, then I'd feel wrong leaving other vendors out. I need to find out what the discount is at Leonard's.... does anyone know?

Yes, feeding them, counting them in the 'head count'.

Although it wasn't in the contract, I did feed the photographers and videographers. They were with me all day! The band and the DJ got fed even though my hall didn't offer discounts. I just felt too guilty not to!
