To have the seafood boat or not- that is the question...with Poll

I want to add the seafood boat to our Cocktail Hour. FH says its a waste when we have so much other stuff at it. I disagree.

What do you girls think??

If you REALLY want it go for it....We thought about it but decided to get the Sushi instead...We and a ton of our guests love sushi.

Honestly, you probably don't need it. We didn't add any extras to our CH and there was more than enough!

I cant quite say that we can afford it...I think we will be cutting it close if we add it.

We have 4 stations...

1) Pasta with 3 types of pasta and 3 sauces
2) Carving. 3 choices

and two other stations Asian and Italian. They each have three things.

There are also passed around things and the table with fruit, veggies, cheese, salads

i don't think it is necessary...it would be a really cool touch....but.....there will be SOOO much food..i think it would be a waste JMO though

Its great if you can afford it, but if its pushing your budget, nobody would miss it!

I love the seafood during CH. It was a must for us but also we knew we had a seafood eating crowd. Def. don't do it if it is not in the budget but otherwise I vote 'hell yeah'.

Personally I hate seafood so I wouldn't miss it. We're not having one at our CH, but we are having other offerings with seafood, particualarly shrimp, which I think is the most popular part of the seafood display anyways, so I don't think anyone will really miss it.

We, especially FH, would love to have it. But it would cost us almost $3,000 to add it. So we really just can't. If you're going to break the bank, then do not do it. No one will remember it and you have a TON of food as it is. It's a classy touch otherwise, but not necessary.

My issue is how much is it? I also want to add additional seafood to my cocktail hour but am being talked out of it by parents and FH because of cost - they say no one will notice as there is so much other food there.

It will cost us almost 2000 more. FH says no one will even notice that its missing and we should just add another station that has seafood in it for ALOT less money

2K is a lot. I say skip it. Spend the $$$ somewhere else, like on your honeymoon or new home etc. I feel your pain though as I want a sushi bar sooooo bad but it is $4000 extra ... I can see even that it's not a good use of our $$$. Sad but true.

I have to agree with your FH on this one...$2000 is A LOT of $ (to me at least), especially if you're saying that you can't really afford it.

We chose to do only jumbo shrimp rather than the shrimp plus lobster legs because the latter was almost twice as much as the former.

In the end, very few people (if anyone) is going to remember your wedding because you had or didn't have the seafood boat. I say use that money towards something more important (like a retirement fund or a super early education fund for your future kids)

Totally agree...FH loves that but at $16 extra pp, even he decided it just isn't worth it. However...we are probably not going to make our mininum, so that would be our first choice to add on :)
