Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
im sorry I know many women will disagree with me-- but I honestly think all of the pictures can wait until after the ceremony---I want to see the fh's face as well as all of our guests faces all together when I begin to walk down the aisle the way in my opinion it should be-- I do not like the idea of seeing the fh before the ceremony-- (i know I will get heat for this response but it is jmho)

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
We saw each other before the ceremony to take pictures and whatnot, and it was a fantastic idea for us! Got a ton of pics out of the way...but that wasn't the best part about it.
We had a little moment, just the two of us and photo/video guys, and it just calmed all the nerves and anxiety and bundles of energy we had going on, allowing us to relax and just enjoy the rest of the day together. It was magical. (yeah yeah, I know I'm sappy )

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
I'm traditional on this and won't want to see fh before the ceremony. In the case where you might not have time at all between the ceremony and reception ok, its an excuse. But I'm gonna hold off.

If your vain like me you will take the bulk of your pictures when your makeup fresh and your hair still neat.
Also, its before ceremony, before reception, nothing major has gone terribly wrong yet. So you will have a genuine look of happiness on your face.
Instead of clenched teeth thinking 'I can't believe my cousin brought my ex to my wedding' or better yet 'I can't believe I threw up at the ceremony'...

That's a great reason!
I want to spend as much time with guests and I have a daytime wedding, so I need to take some pics before the ceremony. Not excited about getting up so early though

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
We decided we would break tradition and take our pics before the ceremony. Since we are not having a bridal party he will be picking me up in an antique car and we will ride together to the ceremony/rh and enjoy that moment and make it special & romantic..and make a toast...lol...also we want to spend as much time possible with our guests and enjoy their company & our wedding. I dont think its gonna take away from him seeing me walk down the aisle, that moment will be special regardless wether we saw each other not before then....Im soo glad we made this decision..

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
We saw each other before the ceremony, and it was one of the best decisions we made. It helped calm us both, and there was no way we would have gotten all our pics done during the cocktail hour.
Besides that, there was no way my DH was going to miss the cocktail hour!
Check out this thread with pics from past LIWers when they saw each other for the first time: link to NW thread

We will see each other before, but I still think that it will be a special moment.

We are doing our pics after the ceremony. Whatever works for your situation.

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
I'm traditional so we'll be waiting until after. Of course if you think you're going to lack time to take pictures in between then it might be better to take them before hand.

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
We saw eachother the first time in church when I was walking down the aisle. In all honesty, I feel like seeing eachother beforehand takes away from the wedding. We could wait to have all the pics done after the church.

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
We are going to take pictures before the ceremony. We are getting married at our RH and there will not be enough time for pictures after the ceremony. I don't want to miss my cocktail hour. We are going to set-up a surprise reveal though and get pictures of his face.

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
I think there is no right or wrong answer to this question. It is a personal choice that only you and FH can make. If you are taking your pictures beforehand, dont make those that arent make you feel like your day will be any less special.
My FH talked about it and decided that we would take our pictures ahead of time since we are getting married at the Reception Hall and the cocktail hour is right away. We have lived together for 2 years, have known each other for 10. I am looking forward to that one peaceful moment in the day, when we just get to be alone, together and see each other for the first time (not in front of 200 people) and really just let the moment sink in. I also think it will make me a lot less nervous when saying my vows.
Again, it is a personal choice that each person needs to make and you should NOT be influenced by what other people are doing and what they think is right/wrong.

I agree. DH and I got married at the RH, so if we would have taken pics afterward, we would have missed the CH, our parents and BP would have missed part of it as well. We had 1-1/2 hours to take pics beforehand, in a relaxed manner. After the ceremony we would have only had about 45 minutes to do pics, and then would have lost additional time during the reception.
Seeing DH before the ceremony took nothing away from seeing him at the end of the aisle. I got so nervous just before the doors opened that I couldn't see anyone but him. He says the same of me, seeing me on my dad's arm was such a special moment for him.
Bottom line is, you do what you want to do. No one can tell you what is right or what is wrong.

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
FH and I will see one another before hand. We are having an interfaith marriage, so there are a few things we have to do before the ceremony starts with our rabbi and priest. Plus we are getting amrried at at your RH and we want to enjoy our cocktail hour with everyone, we don't want to be taking pictures the whole time.
Agian, whatever works for you!

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
On this I'm a such a traditionalist, I want the first time that FH sees me to be when I am walking down the aisle. I want the whole oooh and aaaahh effect.
It's all about what you prefer

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
we definitely don't want to see each other before the ceremony!!!! we purposefully allowed enough time between the ceremony and reception so that we can go somewhere and take pics!

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
seeing each other before our wedding was the BEST thing we could have done!! it was AMAZING! the photographers set it up where we saw each other and got soooo many great shots! better than i could have gotten seeing him for the first time walking down the aisle.. it was the best decision to do this!!
the photos says it all!! and we got to go to our whole CH!!
