We saw eachother the first time in church when I was walking down the aisle. In all honesty, I feel like seeing eachother beforehand takes away from the wedding. We could wait to have all the pics done after the church.

yep. I feel the same...

We're debating too, and I think it will really depend on what our schedule is like that day. I have a feeling we'll do it after the ceremony because our photographer has assured us he's quick and we have access to the hall before the wedding to take pictures so we'll have some of the bridesmaid/groomsmen portraits done already.

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
This for me was the one tradition I refused to break. Even though everyone advises me to take pics before so we dont have to rush and can enjoy all of our CH - I just cant give up that moment of seeing eachother for the first time as we I come down the aisle. I think every bride has that one thing that they always envisioned on their wedding day - and for me that is it. I think to each his own tho and everyone should do what works best for them. FH didnt want to see me till chuch either so it was sort of a done deal. We spoke with our photographer and limo company and worked out a schedule that will allow us to have our pics done in time for us to be at least 45 mins of our 1.5 hour CH. We are going to have to skip the receiving line tho just to be safe and certain that we get to the RH with enough time to unwind a bit, freshen up and then take pics. It also helps out for us that we are only taking pics at the RH - not stopping anywhere in between.

This is really a decision that you have to make based on your days events. We took our pic's after the ceremony at the RH. I really wanted to go the traditional route on this one.

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
its a personal choice, dh and i decided no. we really wanted that moment with me coming down the aisle to be the first we saw eachother on our wedding day. it was so special! and im sure for others, seeing eachother before was a special moment. to each his/her own.
btw, we had no gaps b/n ceremony, CH, and reception..but we made it work. we took pics during part of CH bc we really wanted to have that first moment when i was walking down the aisle. but i know alot of ppl dont want to miss any of the CH. it was def worth it for us.

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
I think it depends on the amount of time you have. I have about a 2 hr break between the ceremony and cocktail hr and they are not too far from each other. And anyone who comes early can relax in the wine and cheese bar for early arrivals. So I'm taking pics between then. I want to be traditional and have FH see me in my dress when I walk down the aisle.

In a Jewish wedding, you sign the ketubah (the wedding contract) immediately before the ceremony so as long as you follow 'tradition' walking down the aisle is never the first time you see eachother.
I originally would have liked to take pictures after, but time + the fact that we would be seeing eachother before anyway made me not mind

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
i am going to see my FH before hand. i think as long as we take pictures of us meeting it will be fine. also we will probably be more nervous for the ceremony if we didnt see eachother. i want to hug and squeeze him and tell him how much i love him before we head to the alter.
and also my FH would be able to express his feelings if we do it before the ceremony. (he can hug me make expressions..) but i feel like if hes standing alone in the ceremony with everyone watching he wont be able to do that... and it would be nice to see him before and have him tell me how beautiful i look

im sorry I know many women will disagree with me-- but I honestly think all of the pictures can wait until after the ceremony---I want to see the fh's face as well as all of our guests faces all together when I begin to walk down the aisle the way in my opinion it should be-- I do not like the idea of seeing the fh before the ceremony-- (i know I will get heat for this response but it is jmho)

I agree completely! Other people may try to push you into taking the pics beforehand, but I personally think it's more special to see each other for the first time at the ceremony.

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
I saw DH before the ceremony and I dont' regret it one bit!!
The 'reveal' as they call it was priceless- I stepped off the elevator and DH was standing there- he looked at me and not only did his eyes bug out but he said 'Holy S**T you look beautful!' I think that was like the best moment of the whole day.

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
Seeing each other before I walk down the aisle was never even a serious option for me. I wish i didnt care. It would make my life a lot easier, b.c then I wouldnt need to have a 3.5 hour gap b.w. the church and CH for pics. BUT, it is important to me. You have to do what you feel is right.
seeing each other before our wedding was the BEST thing we could have done!! it was AMAZING! the photographers set it up where we saw each other and got soooo many great shots! better than i could have gotten seeing him for the first time walking down the aisle.. it was the best decision to do this!!
the photos says it all!! and we got to go to our whole CH!!
agreed. We had a 7pm ceremony in November- so it was dark at that point... so we saw eachother around 3pm and got all of our outdoor shots done before it got too dark- his face as I am walking down the isle is still priceless

Re: TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE
we were asked by our officant if we were gonna see each other before the ceremony and i immediately said yes and fh looked at me and was like 'really?!?' and he was totally thrilled with that .... he thought i woulda wanted to opposite... so at least we're in agreement
