I personally have never been a fan of the sweetheart table. It was both mine and FH's thinking that we would sit with select members of our wedding party- our closest friends at the wedding..
But then a friend said- you'll never be sitting, and it is easier to have your own table.. I so see the logic in that..
BUT-- I just like the idea of sitting with everyone.. we'll have two weeks alone together on our honeymoon- the reception is about a party, right?
THoughts???

I am not a fan of the sweetheart table either...FH & I are going to have a table alone...You will still see everyone because you never really sit but to eat & that is not that long!

Hmmm...personally I like the sweetheart table b/c I feel like there is something romantic about it...
And I do think it's true that you won't be sitting much! Also, figure that you can party with everyone on the dance floor!

I'm going to have a sweetheart table because it's OUR wedding, I want to be the center of attention for the whole day and having our own table will be nice.
You have to do what makes you happy at your reception. If you want to sit among certain people then you should do that.

Seriously, we only sat for our toasts & the blessing....our BP never sat either, they were always mingling & dancing & with us at the bar

I hear what you're saying about wanting to sit with your closest friends, but I know for FH and I that conversation would end in an arguement. We would disagree as to who is the most important and those that we didn't chose to be at our table would be hurt/offended. We opted to go with the sweetheart tables for these reasons: 1) People will be trying to talk to you all day, the few times you may have a chance of some quiet are when the two of you are seated to eat. 2) It's nice to be slightly less distracted and get to 'over see' your wedding from the sweetheart table. 3) It is your special day and you and FH should be at the center of it.

Yeah-- unfortunately I am a bride who does not enjoy being the center of attention...

My FH didn't want one, and I didnt' at first, but now, after the e-party, and PICKING who is at OUR table with us, was just too hard... 'this one can't sit with that one, this one dosen't know anyone, so HAS to sit with this one... AHHHHHHHHH' It will be easier for us to sit by ourselves! and I DONT' plan on sitting that long anywyas! (At least it will make for Pretty pics of us!)

I think that we'll sit on this idea- and wait til the joys of doing seating charts to decide.
Thanks girls!

FH and I will have a table of our own...however....there will be 2 tables next to us...one to each side of us that is designated just for the bridal party and their guests.

We're doing the same.
We really wanted the ability to sit by ourselves and take in the whole reception just us.... Plus it's easier to get in and out of and we really don't have much of a choice because we get a THRONE!!

Re: To Sweetheart, or not to Sweetheart...
I didn't want to do the sweeheart table after my own experience at my brother's wedding. Not to sound like Sophia from Golden Girls, but...picture it: September 1998. A dateless 18 year old sitting at a table with half of the bridal party (all of whom are related to each other and are close) whom she barely knows. I was miserable and I wouldn't want to inflict that on any of my BP
We're lucky enough that our entire BP + dates will be able to fit at a 14 person dais. Our banquet manager said that it's U-shaped, so FH and I will still be in the center sort of.

with a dais..if you have a larger wedding party...where do their guests sit??? Especially if they don't know anyone else!! We did the sweetheart and it was great cuz our HUGE BP mingled amongst everyone and they were all so grateful!

We sat with our BP. I actually enjoed this more then just sitting with my DH. I love him and all, but I am going to be sitting at tables with him for the rest of my life and I wanted to share the experience with others.

I am definitely doing the sweetheart table because I know I will cherish the few moments we are actually sitting there alone together and looking at the beautiful wedding that we planned for so long. On top of that, it would be way too difficult to decide who we would sit with. I do think here is something sweet and romantic about the sweetheart table.

Totally agree. Wanted to sit with my parents and DH parents but it didn't work out that way. We had pretty pics, a couple of smooches and didn't offend anyone.
