To tan or not to tan?
Hey ladies! So my big day is approaching super fast! Two week countdown, things are getting real!! One thing I have been on the fence about is going tanning. I wouldn't want to get dark, but I am so pasty and sometimes it's just too bright in pictures. Is anyone else planning on tanning?

I used to tan every year for about a month before my volunteer ambulance company's installation dinner because it was in January and I was pale as a ghost. I've since stopped, since I started getting white aging/sun spots on my chest (I'm only 23!). I don't think you'll get the results you're looking for in just two weeks. I'd suggest getting a spray tan now to test it out (make sure you don't turn orange and that it's not too dark) and then go back a few days before the big day to have it done again perfectly. Tanning beds can be dangerous and you could end up burning and be really uncomfortable on your big day! (And by burning I mean your butt, because that's always what burns the worst lol!)

I started tanning on Monday in order to get a little color, but not too much. I am going two days then taking two off, and hoping it will be just enough.

I tan pretty often, and those white spots are not aging spots... it's a fungus and it will continue to spread unless you go to the dermatologist. It's called tinea versicolor, and you can get a cream from the dr. and then if you use selsun blue on your chest and lather it up, then wait 10 mins and then scrub it off in the shower, the spots should go away within like 3-4 days
Also, according to my dermatologist, the spots aren't necessarily from tanning beds, it's actually from your scalp! if you're hair is parted in the tanning bed, your scalp can burn and you won't even know it. When it burns in the beds, it infects your skin, it's like getting dandruff inside your skin it's weird.

Thanks for the advice ladies! I think I'm just going to go a few times and see if it does anything. I don't necessarily want color, just to make sure the flash doesn't reflect off me lol! And I've read that a little tan makes you look thinner which is definitely a bonus! That is terrifying with the white spots too!! I think I am going to go in one where you stand just in case!

I would tan... but at two weeks out you don't have much time to get color so I would be careful not to be burned on your day!

if you do stand-up keep it mind it is a little stronger, so since it's your first time try to do like 7-8 mins, then in a couple of days go again and bump it up another 1-2 mins... keep doing this like every 2-3 days until your wedding and you'll have nice color

Definitely do a stand-up bed, especially if you're wearing a strapless dress. You don't want tan lines in the area under your arms! I remember being so paranoid about these before prom when I used to tan haha

I'm going tanning. I started going at the beginning of the month, usually two or three times a week. I go to Hollywood Tans and find that I get the best color there and they're super affordable. I paid $110 for unlimited for the month. I'm not going to be DARK which is good because FH doesn't have much color, but I'll have a nice base which is what I want to contrast from my dress - if I didn't tan, my dress and I would be the same color

I would do airbrush. I think you'll have a better chance of getting more of the color you are looking for.

Don't do the spray tan! I did it about 4 days before my wedding because I'm pale and didn't want to be too dark, so that it would fade a little. BIG mistake. The day before my wedding I had chunks of color missing on my chest and arms, and I spent the morning of my wedding scrubbing those areas off because they looked horrible! I would go in one of those open tanning beds (don't remember what they are called), I've never been burned in them and I'm super pale.

This. You have 2 weeks.....go this weekend so see how it comes out and gauge what day it looks best. Definitely get a professional one, not the booth. I got mine the day before my wedding and it was perfect the next day! No burning and instant results.
Not to be a debbie downer, but there is NO amount of tanning that is 'safe.' Even going once increases your risk of skin cancer. It is never, ever worth it, especially with so many really great airbrush options out there.

I wouldn't go tanning only because your so close to your wedding day & you could get sun burn from the tanning bed. I would do a nice light spray tan from beach bum.

This! I used to go in HS and college a bit and had melanoma at 29. It's not worth it. You can get beautiful color by having a pro airbrush you. Just be sure to do a test run first.
