TO THOSE ALREADY MARRIED...

TO THOSE ALREADY MARRIED...

Question:

What's the one thing you would have done differently if you could have your wedding all over again?

THANKS

Re: TO THOSE ALREADY MARRIED...

I would have given someone in my bridal party a must take photo list to make sure they were all done and been more specific with photographer about candids.
Met with the band and not leave it up to my hubby

Other than that I wouldn't change a thing

If I could do the whole thing all over again, I would have learned about this site sooner!!!!! I didn't know this site existed until after my wedding.
I think that my wedding would have been much different if I had just got advice from you guys first ... AND MY VIDEOGRAPHER STUNK!

Re: TO THOSE ALREADY MARRIED...

figure out a way to say hi to all the guests but yet still have time to enjoy myself and dance.

we had over 250 people and it took so long to say hi to everyone...we didnt talk to our friends bc we figured we would see them on the dance floor or were with them all day..but we still ran out of time for ourselves!

similar for me too. i didnt discover this site until after i had booked my photographer and videographer and really wish i had! by the time i read about and saw pics of other great photographers i had already booked mine and would've lost my downpayment! looking back, i should've just s ucked up the $ loss and gotten the kind of pics i really wanted!

Re: TO THOSE ALREADY MARRIED...

I wish I didn't worry about talking to everyone (even after going to all the tables to say thanks for coming). People will keep coming up to you to have conversations about everything. GO OUT AND DANCE!!!!! I loved my wedding day, but I was more nervous about hurting people's feelings instead of enjoying myself!

I would have added another hour at the end. It went so fast. I loved every minute. To be able to have some more time.....

Re: TO THOSE ALREADY MARRIED...

All good advice so far....

definitely give someone a list of 'must have' photos & realize that if there is truly 1 photo you truly want, be sure to ask (photographer will do what he can but isn't a miracle worker)..we had 1500 proofs & they still forgot a few of our must have's.

See everyone (table to table) but be sure your hubby & you stay together & kind of address the entire table at once. Also, we started going to tables right after eating our appetizer (you are always served first).

EAT AT YOUR CH.....looking back both DH & I regretted not eating anything (everyone tries to grab you & talk) & you are taking pics.

At some point step back & just take everything in. It's these moments you will remember when all is said/done.

Don't let the little things get to you, things WILL go wrong that day, whatever happens, happens. Keep a smile on your face & move on

Re: TO THOSE ALREADY MARRIED...

I would have given a 'must take' photo list to someone on DH's side of the family to help set things up. My family had no problem gathering everyone up and calling the photographer over. We have so many pictures of my side of the family and incomplete pictures of DH side. I really wanted a picture of DH and I with his grandmother and we never got it. I made the effort to go over to her table in the beginning of the evening and get it taken care of but, she was in the ladies room and well, then, we never really made it back for a picture.

My photographer. He stunk. I would up getting day after pictures (which I LOOOVED and am so happy I have!!) because he didn't take good pics, AND I had SO MUCH DETAIL and he didn't take pics of so much. That stuff is gone forever. He told me NOT to give him a list, but if I had, maybe he would have taken the pics that I wanted.

I have to say, there's ALWAYS a lot of threads on what do you regret or what should you have NOT paid a lot for, but I am SO GLAD I spent a lot on my hair. It was a HUGE splurge and I do not regret for one second what I paid on my hair.

only thing I would have done differently was insist on having my dress bustled before the CH.
Other than that, nothing.

Re: TO THOSE ALREADY MARRIED...

i would have gone without the video.

i would have had a better must-take-picture list

i would have not worked so hard to be nice to people who just don't get it.

i would have relaxed more.

i would have worn sneakers instead of chinese slippers at the wedding (my ankle needed better support)

Re: TO THOSE ALREADY MARRIED...

Don't know if this counts...but this is actually my second marriage.

What I'm doing differently really will surprise you.

I'm not being cheap with anything...I'm going all out. Last time I tried to cut costs thinking... 'It's only one day.' But not this time. It's worth it and I'm doing it all.

I'm not stressing over small things. The day will move. And it's all been so effortless. Me and my FH have the same taste in almost everything...so it's been really easy to pick out invites, favors, food choices, hall....whatever.

I'm accomodating US! I'm not putting too much thought into how other people will get there...what will happen..if we have this or that...how other people think. It's our day.

Lastly I want everyone to have a blast. It's gonna be one huge party. No formalities....just a good ol time.

Hope that helps.

Re: TO THOSE ALREADY MARRIED...

I would not change a thing....It was absolutly perfect. The one thing I will say is give the photographer must take pics. Mine missed some little details but my pics were awesome.

YES! I agree with the above!

Also, I would have bought the damn dress I wanted in the first place. I loved the dress I had but I really should have gone with my gut and bought the expensive designer gown I wanted. i regret that.

Other than that - the day was great and I loved how everything went.
