To Video or Not to Video?

Original post by donegal419

Just curious to hear people's opinions....

My fiance and I are paying for the wedding ourselves so needless to say we are on a bit of a budget! ;) What are people's opinion on having a video done? We are thinking of NOT doing it because from what we've seen they are almost $2,000 or more and we coud definitely use the money for other things.

Is anyone NOT doing a video? Why? or WHY are you doing a video?

Advice from someone who was married...
The day goes by sooooo fast. I can actually say the entire ceremony was a blur. I remember bits and pieces, but I was in a total fog. Pictures are one thing, but I can't remember details of what the officiant said or hearing our vows, etc. With video you relive those moments!

Don't skimp on this important part. I'm dying to see our video!

i am using a video b/c IMO there are things you capture that you dont get from the pictures, but i am not spending a crazy amount of money on it, i have to shop around...i would just like to look back everyone now and then and see the wedding, not just from pictures

A video is a good memory, there is so much going on, on you're day that you may miss certains things, that the video captures. You can pop in the video and capture the entire day.

I agree....

I think you should get video since the day goes by so fast you dont want to miss it. Most of the 05 brides that didnt get it say they regret it. Most vendors that offer photo and video only charge 1000 for the video since the service is combined.

I agree- if you don't get it you will wish you did!!

i think its worth the investment - it is one of the few tangible things you will have from that day. you will enjoy it - and its a nice thing to have documented.

0'5er here - definatly do video! It doesn't have to be super expensive, we just did a 'mini-edit' where the videographer edited while he was taking the video. We are very pleased with it, and watching it has been great. It's not as 'fancy' as most videos, but for us its fine..

get one! there is nothing like seeing your wedding---i didn't remember a lot until i saw mine and it was great seeing all my family and friends dressed up and dancing and having fun.......i liked seeing how i looked in my dress!!ha! it is worth it---everyone in my family laughed/cried when they saw it and we all started talking about the things we saw in the video ('remember this and that!') you don't have to go overboard and spend a fortune---but definitely get someone to capture the ENTIRE day---it is money well spent!

I will not be having a videographer. Someone will record the ceremony, but that's it. I don't want one. FI doesn't want one. To us it's not a necessity.

I always hear from people who have gotten married and don't have a video that it is the one thing they regret the most. Maybe if you or your FH have a brother/sister who has a good friend that you would trust with a camera for the night, maybe pay them a small amount of money and they could do it.
