Update: I also had 8 cc opened BUT those are cleared (so i was told) The orders are in England. Go figure. So they can't be charged for grand larsany...(however you spell it) As of now I am keeping cool. Thank you for the prayers, I think they gave me strength today (Although i was yelled at by a police officier for crying and he said 'how do i know your not the one making these purchases'..) Oh well...

So, I get online and see that my bank account is cleared. Yes, cleared. Someone used my debit card number on 42 large transactions (and I am talking like, 2,000-10,000 dollars.
I called and cancelled the account but I was told 100 different things and now find out I may not get my money back because I was not enrolled in a 'Identity theft program' through my bank. Are you serious?
So, I now have not a dollar to my name until my next paycheck and fh and I unless I get my money back, will not have the money for a wedding for next year...
Oh and did I mention now I may have to cancel traveling to WDW because I refuse to borrow money?
So please, just keep my in your prayers tonight because I really need strength ...

wow that stinks...they should def refund you..that happen to Fh ...they gave a new member his member # and the guy was taking 1000 of dollars in what he thought was his...and it was FH's...and they were so mean about it...like it was FH's fault...till they realized they made the mistake...stand your ground...and dont give up......seriously that is so scary!

holy crap i'm so sorry if there are debit transactions though it's gotta be someone with your pin and that is bs that you can't get it back
all they have to do is give you the unauthorised purchase forms for each transaction it might take a while to get it back but as long as you report it within 30 days you should be good. also why didn't they contact you in regards to large purchases when you have no record of any high purchases

ok..something I can help with...i've worked in retail banking all my life
1. File a police report 2. The insufficient funds fees should automatically be included in the dispute when u dispute all of the charges 3. they def should have a fraud block (if its out of your normal spending pattern they should have blocked the card and alerted you) 4. Did you use the card while it was being used fraudulently? Because then you prove where you were when the other charges were being made. 5. If the debit card has a Visa logo (not too sure about MasterCard) you can definitely get everything back. They should give you a provisional credit within 3 business days (the most) of filing the dispute and then investigate. I've only ever seen the provisional credit taken back once and it was obvious the people were lying. These charges look absolutely bogus. I definitely think you'll get it back.
I know it's hard to stay positive..but I know you'll get it back. HTH

OMG, I am so sorry this happened to you.
Listen, if money is missing from your account, you can get it back. The bank has to research how these transactions happened. They can monitor everyone. They may have even issued someone else your account number. I know this because it happened to me. I had it taken care of in a day. Can you look up what happened on the online banking format? Do you have the bank looking into this and the fraud dept. working on this? Make sure you do because they can issue the money back to you.

go to an attorney asap. there is federal law about these types of situations that limit your liability, but it is time sensitive. seriously, call one tomorrow.

Second, I know this sounds bizarre but you are a good person.... bad things like this can not happen without them being figured out. I would imagine this would be hard to do but sit tight until tomorrow and I'm sure it will be sorted out.

I AGREE with MrsH!!!! i had it happen to me on a smaller scale, go to the bank and talk to the manager....the people on the phone dont know S H I T! You will get it back, who spends 20k in one day when their not celebrities! I know it will all work out for you.....those withdrawls are insanity.....stay positive!

That is probably their 'line' that they give... but I am certain that once you pursue it further they have to give you back their money - their must be things that they did not do - like call you - I remember a couple of times getting a phone call or the store having to make a phone call when I would spend a larger sum of money in one day --- your bank should have done that too!

There is a banking law called regulation e... This gives strict guidelines to the bank for resolving these types of issues.. They have to give you provisional credit and investigate this within a certain time period. It doesn't matter if you weren't enrolled in their identity theft program they still have to investigate and fix the problem within 45 days.. Here is the link for reg e.. I do these claims a lot as I work for the bank so don't worry! You will get your $$ back! ANd have them put a restriction on your account so nothing else can come through and so any other red flag transactions can be caught.. I hope this helps... go and give them hell... talk to the manager in charge.. and threaten to talk to their manager.. that always puts the fine under their a**.

oh my gosh that is so horrible! i am so so sorry. i know it doesn't seem this way now, but things will work out for the best in the end. just keep working at it and you'll figure out a way to get your money back.
