we took the boatride out of point lookout by jones beach and saw about 30 seals on the shores of the marsh and about 3 seals bobbing in the water and one little guy hanging out with the gulls on a sand bar. we weren't that close, so a lot of viewing was through binoculars, but it was a cool thing to do. it was about $40 for the two of us, which seemed like a lot, but considering the money also goes towards the riverhead foundation, it was money well spent.

That's great!!! It's awesome to think there are seals, whales, etc... so close to where we live.

awww... about 2 weeks ago, a friend of ours was walking his lab pup on the beach in Hampton Bays and the puppy ran up to a seal on shore! He happened to have his camera and took pictures. There was also a sand bar and about half dozen seals just hanging out.
