My sister did this at hers. And, one of the birds didn't fly away. They kept trying to release the bird and he didn't want to go- I was the flowergirl at her wedding and I got myself a new pet. I had that dove for about 15 years.

They did this at my MOH's wedding... I think it was beautiful- her mom read something about the doves and they flew out of a beautiful basket.

i would have never guessed that i'm thinking about doing it at our ceremony but my dog will be there so maybe not such a good idea
