Too late for an E-party?

Too late for an E-party?

I'm getting married in May and was thinking of having a small e-party in November. Is that too close to the wedding?

in my opinion, i think it might be too late. i get a little annoyed when i get an eparty invitation and the wedding is less than a year away.

I don't think it is too late -- I was engaged this past Feb. and our wedding in in Feb 2009. Our e-party was at the end of June because we wanted a backyard party. No one had any issues with this. And if for some reason a guest takes offense, maybe this a clue that they aren't 100% happy and supportive and then do you really want them at the wedding???

If you want to have one, then just make it something small... maybe just a BBQ or something. That way your guests won't feel like your having another party just to get some more money/gifts ... especially right before the wedding. HTH

please dont take this the wrong way but I think it might be too late and too close to the wedding. I would just wait for the bridal shower at this point, JMO

I agree with the other girls - or just say no gifts b/c everyone is prob happy to come to a party, just not to be a burden on them financial - or you could combine e-party/couples shower

IMO if you want to have one do it! If people feel 'put out' bc the two events are close then can choose not to come...

Since the wedding is only about 8 months away, it may be a little too late for anything big, only because IMO I wouldn't want to ask guests to give 2 gifts, plus a shower, if you're having one, in such a short amount of time. We had our party in November of '07 and our wedding is in June...hope this helps, good luck!!!

i think it's fine. not everyone can have an engagement party a year in advance! take me for example - we got engaged in march, had an engagement party in june and are getting married in january. i think if you do it six months ahead of time, you're good to go. our engagement party was family and wedding party only (still turned out to be 70 people - i have a big family). we didn't do it to get presents. we did it so our families and bridal party could meet each other in an informal setting before the wedding.

Thank you for the feedback. I got engaged in December. I wanted an e-party and FH's parents were going to throw us one but they backed out. So by the time that was all figuered out (because they didn't actually say they were backing out they kind of left us hanging) it was summer. I had given up on the idea but am afraid I was going to regret it. I was thinking something small. Thanks again for the input.

i was gonna mention the bridal shower. Remember that your shower is anywhere from 1-3 months before the wedding so if you have an e-party then guests will have e-party, bridal shower and wedding all within 6 months. So basically every 2 months having to get you something. For some it wont be a problem and for others it can be hard.

I agree with the other girls to maybe keep it small. Others mentioned bbq and i was gonna suggest the same but you said for november so a bbq might not be the best lol

i think someone already asked this, but when did you get engaged? if you JUST got enagaged then its not too soon, but if you have been engaged for a while, then maybe you should just wait for your shower...if you wanna have something small, make sure you tell everyone NO gifts

i agree... at six months before your wedding it's definitely cutting it close! i think people may get annoyed considering they will be invited then to your shower potentially 3 months later...

I think the rule is your supposed your not supposed to have an Engagement party 6 months after the proprosal if your wedding date is a year away. i think its like you have up until 6 months after you get proposed to. i read it on about.com But hey its up to you i say do what you want.
