Re: Too much for flowers?

That is waaaaay too much to spend on flowers IMO. I'm paying $2800 and I thought that was a lot to pay for something that will die the next day!!

I recommend Vito from Pedestals! He's awesome!

Re: Too much for flowers?

You're using flowers that are on the more expensive side...you may want to use a few of these expensive flowers along with mostly roses (which are not so expensive) to keep the cost down.

Re: Too much for flowers?

That sounds really expensive...i only did bouquets and stuff like that no centerpeices...but my quote was for 700

my bouquet
throw away
1 maid of honor
4 bridesmaids
2 mother coursages
2 grandmother coursages
10 bout.
and enough rose petals to cover 19 tables

CALL BURTON'S!!!

Agree that's who I'm using. Same price any flower and my tall CP is the same price no matter which stand I choose!

Flowers are flowers in my mind and as unromantic as it sounds... they die! No need to spend a lot.

Re: Too much for flowers?

maybe try visiting 2 more florists to compare prices. You can try Burtons- maybe it is your flower choices that is bringing up the cost? They charge the same no matter what flowers you use. Also try Flower Michele maybe...

Re: Too much for flowers?

the first quote is more reasonable due to the type of flowers you are requesting. My breakdown :

chuppa ( an arch type thing used in jewish ceremony)- all white/ cream flowers on top and on the two poles holding the canopy - hyrdenias , roses ect

14 high centerpieces- same style whites and creams , orchids

three different types of low centerpeices on the sweetheat table

5 bok- calla lillies

my bok- peony ? not sure

groomsmen- mini calla lily

cocktail hour- floating roses/ petels on each table
another arch outside decorated

table where place card holders will be - floral arrangement , which i haven't decided on

arrangement in womens bathroom similar to place card holders table and fresh flowers for cake

6000$

Re: Too much for flowers?

I think the top quote is pretty good considering what you are asking for. If you are looking to save $$$ i would make some changes. First, I would eliminate the CH flowers and candles. I'm not planning on having anything for the CH but if were, I would make at DIY. I would also change the centerpieces to lower the cost. We got our CP for $95 and it includes, roses, orchids, lillies, hydrangea. They are very lush. That would lower your cost considerably.

That's alot. I have plenty of things I'd rather spend 10K on. Like putting it towards a DP, furniture, vacations etc....

Shop around.

hells yeah!!!!!!!!!! This is the only project I would have loved to do myself, But I don't think I'll have the time.

Is it reasonable for me to ask to keep it at 5K for the whole thing for this many tables?

Try Flower Michele (John). He can work with you.

Thanks so much ladies! We have construction going on on our whole house. I think a few thousand dollars could go towards new steps and new closets instead of centerpieces. i'm going to try switching to roses to see what quotes I get

before you change flowers, maybe try asking about alternating high and low centerpieces. Also take out teh cocktial hour stuff and make a DIY for that. You can easily do candles with rose petels or something like that. See how much that brings it down before switching flowers.

Re: Too much for flowers?

I used Verbena and I definitely think Jen can work with you if you tell her your budget...I would definitely downscale the CH arrangements...I did a white floating rose in a round bowl w/ brown beargrass in it for i think $10 a piece as opposed to a $115 arrangement...that's an easy $1000 for something that people don't even really notice...remember too that Jen also includes the entire centerpiece to take home including the vase so that's a pretty good deal...a lot of florists only let you rent the vase from them...if you're looking to save more money i would eliminate some of the ceremony decor like maybe sub the petals for fake ones and a friend or family member do it before the ceremony...also, i did the napkin flowers and they were pretty small and something I don't think anyone noticed and in retrospect i had so many other flowers I should've eliminated them...hope this helps!

Re: Too much for flowers?

It does seem high. However seems really nice as well. Why dont you see if you can cut somewhere. I know that my church actually has flowers for their alter anyhow so I didnt need church decor.
Maybe you dont need the tree for the placecard table. Perhaps, also you can change one flower or two in the bouquets and that would lower it
I would call them and ask them how they can lower it....worth a shot

Re: Too much for flowers?

That seems way to high to me!!!! I would shop around more before making a decision. I don't have as many guest as you but I was quoteed $499. But that is without the flowers for the church..I gotta check on their rules for that!

I'm def gong to DIY the CH candles and whatnot. I got the candles online for 1.50 each and saw the glass holders for 1.50.

FBB gave me the idea yesterday of using the pieces from the ceremony for the reception. so i hope that brings it down a little!

That seems a little high to me. Where did you get the quotes from?

I was quoted around $3500 for 18 tables, 6 BM and GM my bo-k my throw away. Decorations for the church and Parents and Grandparents crosages. Yours seems high. But it could also be the type of flower. I would keep looking around.

So far I went to verbena and a small local florist.

I went to Flowers By Brian yesterday and had a great meeting with one of their designers. I haven't gotten a quote yet so I don't know if it'll be better.

would you FM me your place. maybe i can go there with my new roses idea and see what they tell me.

I went to pedestals.
