So I just found out today that my bridal salon gave me the wrong price for my BM dress I picked out which I absolutely loooved....$275 Designer -Bill Levkoff..
With my discount came to $ 247... is this too much to ask for my BM's to pay for a dress? I was hoping for like $170.... help!!!!

Price it out in other stores. Check out RK bridal in the city. They are much cheaper than most stores.

Re: Too much to ask for BM dresses??
WELL dont forget that price is without alterations, and bm dresses are usually about $60-70 so it would actually end up costing them over $300.
You know your girls better and know what they can afford and what they are comfortable with.
What dress is it, check rk bridal. The dress for my bm's were $254 and through their no frills program i got it for $186. Some girls even got $100 off their bm dresses

Re: Too much to ask for BM dresses??
I don't think so...
I want Jim Hjelm dresses which are similarly priced. My girls are the types that if they love it, they won't care how much it is!

Re: Too much to ask for BM dresses??
Well, you know you're Bms best...
I promised mine they would be under $200, cuz I think that's alot. One of my Bms is in the process of buying a coop, one is in the wedding and so is her daughter, one just got married and one just started working and is paying for grad school. I went to Lillettes and got Bill Levkoff dresses and they were $175.

Re: Too much to ask for BM dresses??
It all depends on your girls. You can run it by them and see what responses you get. I tried to take in consideration how much I want them to spend. I don't want to break anyone's pockets

Personally, I would be very upset if a bride asked me to pay that much...i feel bad asking 200!

Re: Too much to ask for BM dresses??
I don't think its unreasonable, but i guess it depends on your girls. That's around how much my BMs will be paying for their dresses, and I paid around that for a dress for my cousin's wedding. Most girls I know pay around there or even more for a dress even if they are guests at a wedding.

Re: Too much to ask for BM dresses??
I think its a little too much because they still have to do hair, makeup, shoes, accessories etc.
But you can probably get it cheaper. Try www.pearlsplace.com

Re: Too much to ask for BM dresses??
I personally would look to see if the dress was available for less elsewhere. If not, I would look for an alternative dress. Price was no object for my dress but I wouldn't expect my BMs to think the same way. The reality of it is most BM dresses will only be worn once and there are so many lovely dresses out there that are still moderate in price.

Re: Too much to ask for BM dresses??
My best friend picked an Amsale dress that is 310 before alterations. Needless to say I was piiiiisssssed She offered to pay for some since I am in grad school and still paying loans and not making any money, but its still way too expensive in my opinion. I mean, they may be really nice and all, but we wear it for one day and then it gets thrown in the closet or donated. So I would say if you think all your BMs can afford it, then go for it. If not, then I would seriously reconsider...JMO though!

Re: Too much to ask for BM dresses??
that is a bit high b/c with that they will have to also pay for alterations, which can get real pricey...and shoes etc...if your heart is set on this dress, you should contact burtons in huntingtona nd speak to carol...she gets all dresses at a much discounted price...it is drastically cheaper...my BM dresses were $275 in 2 stores and we bought them at burtons for $175...and alterations are capped at $55

Re: Too much to ask for BM dresses??
I'd probably spend it if someone asked me to, but I'd feel uncomfortable asking someone else to spend it for me. Being a bridesmaid is such a huge expense in general, I am trying to minimize their costs as much as I can. There are lots of designers with similar styles for less $$.
