try being 22 and getting married. i get crap all the time from people. sometimes i wanna smack them. especially coworkers who have been married and divorced.....they have th emost to say.

I don't think 24 is too young. When I was 24 I was not ready financially to get married. If you're ready, you're ready.

im 22 FH is 25
we have been living together longer than alot of married people we know (3 years)
i think we are ready
some people are jerks, others are jealous, all that matters is that we are ready!

do they not realize that it's a fairly NEW thing to get married later in life? My mom was married had two kids by the time she was my age but she still thinks i'm too young... people are weird. who cares when someone else gets married? how does it affect their life?
i'll be 25 when i get married and FH will be 24

I know how you feel, im 20 and hear it so much from all the divorsee's at my job. But I know in my heart he is the one, and I don't care what anybody has to say! Plus my parents got married very young and there celebrating 29 years in march and couldn't be happier!

I hear that alot too... Im only 21!!! When we get married I will be 22 and he'll be 24 and everyone says that they think we're to young... Thats not stopping us though... As long as we are happy, we could care less what anyone else thinks... Its not mean to say that either... I feel it's about the bride and the groom and their feelings.. No one else's... People just always have something to say no matter what...

FH and I are way more established than some 30 year olds we know and they have almost 8 years on me! we have an apartment and nice things (IMO), a new car, real estate in florida and we are paying for our wedding ourselves....and we have 0 debt

Age is nothing but a number. I commend you 'younger' girls for knowing what is right for you at a younger age. I was not personally ready for marriage at 22 or 23 or even 25. It turns out I wasn't ready because I wasn't with the right person.
I am 29 and will be 30 when we get married -- this is what was right for us.
So for all of you 'younger brides' eff em. If you know then you know and they have some kind of jealously or annamosity (some people have genuine concern but that is to be expected -- like mothers they are even concerned at my age!)

people who know us - dont think that we are too young - b/c they KNOW us and see how we live and interact with eachother and everyone thinks that it is wonderful - people were actually asking what was taking so long its strangers that i get looks from!

Exactly what I'm saying. When I was 22 or 24 I personally did not feel ready.
i had to grow up fast......my parents decided to move across the country so i had to make a decision and i chose to stay in NY and i had to grow up real fast.....if my parents didnt move - i probably would still live at home and mooch off them! i def wouldnt be ready for marriage then!

I think it's this area. I grew up in PA and people get married a lot younger down there. My sister is 24 and she has more friends married then I do! I personally think people wait too long to get married. I am 27 and happy with how things went for me, but if it happend when I was younger I don't think it would've been bad. I know my dad was 22 when he got married and my mom 23....my grandparents were 18...I think older people just forget how old they were when they did it....
