Took my Bridemaids shopping today (edited because I am second guessing how their dress will look next to mine)

Original post by xjulietx

I took two of my girls today. I took the third yesterday. We had fun. The two today tried on a dress that they really like. If it looks decent on the third girl, it will be a done deal. What do you think of this dress in this color?

They didn't try on my first choice because the store didn't have it. Before they saw the Jordan that they like, they were willing to order my first choice (a Mori Lee dress) without even trying it (they tried on a few other Mori Lee dresses and saw how they fit) Then they found the Jordan and fell in love and they both tried it on and got excited. The third bridesmaid couldn't go Saturday, so I took her out on Friday and we concluded that she is okay in empire waists in satin or something equally heavy and full of body (no chiffon or georgette or anything flimsy)

I feel horrible, but I feel like lying and saying that the dress looks horrible on the third girl just so I can get the Mori Lee.

They are similar styles (the drape around the waist) but I like the neckline of the Mori Lee better.

I'm definetly all for having the BMs look and feel comfortable...but in this case, it seems like it will really bother you if you go with their choice. If they liked your choice, I'm sure they will like it when they try it on as well. They are both very similar...the second one you posted is a little more classic/elegant looking...and I think it would go beautifully with your dress.

If they didn't even try on the gown that you like, then just tell them that even though they like that gown, you LOVE this one and won't feel right making a decision until they try that one on as well. After all, its the truth and I don't think that's an unreasonable request!! That's what I did, because I had a dress in mind and they found another one they liked and I made them try both on because I wanted to be sure. (I ended up going with the one they chose, but it was definitely the more elegant choice)

It really all comes down to it being your wedding - the gown you like is beautiful and goes wonderfully with the neckline of your gown.

I am sure they will go along with what you chose, it's not like you are telling them you have to wear a mint green taffeta gown with ruffles lace and poufy sleeves

probably not what you want to hear, but I think the first dress is far more elegant looking than the second and I think it would look great with your gown

what is it that you like about the second dress?

I like the cap sleeves and the squarish neckline of the Mori Lee dress. I also think it compliments my dress better.

Here they all are.

hi i think the 2 dresses look really similar - if they are thrilled with the one why not go for it - i think either will look great with your dress - dont stress so much they are both great
