Okay, so our search for a DJ company begins. i know there are a lot of great groups out there, but i really dont want to spend another few months debating over this. We are now less than a year away (eek), so we need to start ramping up this planning thing.
FH said he will take care of DJ....but he also said to give him a short list.
So, I figure checking out 5 DJ companies is okay....but checking out 15 is NOT!
Sooooo....which are the DJ companies that shoudl be on our list...
this is who I am thinking of so far...
LI Sound, Elite Sound, DJ Gaza (i need to check out at least one brooklyn vendor), FM entertainment, body rock....
who am i missing? we dont want to spend a million dollars either. Just need DJ/MC and basic lighting package (uplighting is already installed in our RH).

Well are you looking for 5 top dj companies (like biggest companies,) or are you looking for in general 5 good choices that are budget friendly, good reviews, etc. I hope Im making sense...its just that, like Im using a dj who I think is great and also very budget friendly but you normally wouldnt say hes in the top 5 djs because hes not a big company and a million girls dont use him, you know what i mean.
But in any case, I will tell you these are who I checked out...
FM entertainment High Energy Entertainment After Hours Long Island Sound In the Mix almost checked out Tommy Tunes but already booked.

We went with Castle entertainment in Islandia. They were really reasonable and threw in the light package for free.

Definitely Bravura!!! My brother used them and EVERYONE danced all night long. Needless to say I am booked with them as well. I love them and they are so easy to work with!!!

We're using High Voltage. We are just getting a dj and lighting, and for the full 6 hours it is SUPER cheap. FM me if you need more info!
im biased cuz they're the company im using...but LI Sound is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

We were considering After Hours, SLE Productions, Tommy Tunes, Premier Entertainment in NJ. We booked with Frank from FM Entertainment though. I really needed to feel comfortable with our vendors and really like Frank.

We're using Ray from Variety Music and are very excited about it! When we met with him, we just got a great vibe and he really seemed to understand our vision for the whole day. I also liked his demeanor a ton, and knowing that he's the person we're going to get on the day of the wedding.
We met with Brauvura also and were told they don't just do DJ/MC - that you have to get their live instruments and keyboardists and stuff, and that we weren't guarranteed to have the people we met with, and we didn't want that.
But that was just us, of course you'll have your own impressions to make. We just really liked the Variety Music people. HTH! It took us a while to choose.
You don't HAVE to get live music with Bravura... they offer that option but you don't have to.. We were only going for DJ & MC but when we heard their singer...we HAD to have him sing at the cocktail hour.

We booked with Tommy Tunes... they were great when we met with them, so helpful and definitely worked on the price, check them out!

Check out Classie Sounds in Brooklyn....they are fabulous and they are the house DJ for both Russo's on the Bay and the Riviera in Brooklyn. You won't be disappointed. Be sure to ask for either Steve or Nick to be your MC/DJ. Nick even has percussion.

we met with richie and we loved him!!!! i also called fm entertainment because a lot of girls on here use them, but i got a better price parties alive and fh and i loved richie right away.

Definitely check out Tommy Tunes! They're amazing!!! And we saw all the big names. They blew us away!
