Is anyone else a little uncomfortable by this post? I can see if it was asked by someone in the process of looking for a site. I don't know, something about it rubbed me the wrong way.

hence the reason it has so many views and not equal responses. Its not a bad post..but it can be taken the wrong way by some. No drama..just an opinion.

Trust me.. I was taking
it the wrong way.

I think this whole post is relative and that classy is a funny word. I have seen old Gatsbyesque mansions, simply elegant and exquisite in architecture and layout destroyed by massive amounts of flowers--so many that you might have thought the groom won theTrifecta. In contrast, I have been to events in people's yards where the love shared was so real and the spirit of joy so uniform that they outclassed any mansion.
It is hard to separate, in the way, the question is posed, the cost of a reception from the sentiment, and that is unfortunate. Perhaps you meant ?tasteful? in a traditional sense? Although, like Juliet said, many folks like a more ornate reception. All personal taste.

In my opinion, I think people sometimes read into things way to much! Sometimes it's just not that deep.

to me, it wasn't the question per se, it was the fact that is was posed by someone who just got married (and naturally put hers on the list). I would never have thought twice if it was someone who was interested in responses because they were in the process of looking for location sites. Everyone is obviously going to think their place is 'Classy'.
Didnt really see the point of the thread, that's all. Just my opinion, No drama...

As soon as I read the first post I saw it coming. LauraPete can tell u that
And its not a matter of reading into things. Different people will take things in different ways. Thats the LIW way

Well, I'll tell you my hall is totally tacky! At least that's what most people think--it's way over the top and ornate. But FH and I took one look at it and thought it was a place that we could really play with. It's so outrageous that as soon as we saw it we decided to have a masquerade ball and use the over-the-top decor as part of the theme. So we're hoping our formal theme wedding will be classy even though the place by itself isn't. I think that's what makes a site classy--what individual people do with it.

My best friend lives right next door to Grand Prospect Hall-- I think I might have seen you post a couple of weeks ago, so I looked up their web site. I think that place is awesome- and so rich with history-- I think that is totally cool!

And I agree with your approach.. It's not what or where-- it's how you execute! I can't wait to see pics of your masquerade ball.

Hi guys! I haven't been on-line in a few hours and didn't realize how much stir I caused. YIKES! Totally didn't mean anything by it... for those who know me, I usually keep a pretty low profile - kinda funny though how one choice of words can influence a thread. Even funnier, I was actually posting the question for a friend at work who came to my wedding and was looking for a hall with a similar feel. I quoted her words when I posted - my bad. As for me putting my own hall on there well.... who wouldn't? Hhahahaha!! . No, but in all seriousness, after reading all the responses I see how my question could have been taken uncomfortably, so my apologies to any who were offended. For real. Bad choice of words. No drama intended at all. Sorry!

I think you would have had to seen all of the reception site on LI in order to judge. But in my opinion, the Crest Hollow Country Club is one of the most beautiful, classiest places i have seen on LI.

I'd have to agree
