Does anyone else ever feel like they have no friends and they're really blah and sad a lot?
I think I'm just stressing BIG TIME now...I had a meltdown on Friday, just sat in my car and started to cry for a few minutes! I'm working my butt off to pay for this wedding...and on top of that...just went back to school f/t for nursing...so you can imagine my stress and planning a wedding at the same time!
Don't feel bad these feelings are normal. It is stressful to plan a wedding and especially financially it can really put a toll on our sanity. Feeling depressed when something bad happens in our lives or we have things to be stressful about is normal. When a person is diagnosed with depression it is a bit different. They go into a depression without any real reason why many times, or they create things in their head and make things a problem

They're like brain zaps, right? Your body is going through withdrawal. SSRIs are not always easy to come off of. Have you talked to your Dr? Maybe you needed to come off of it more slowly and in smaller increments. That will probably help decrease the anxiety as well.
Are you girls going on something else after you're off the Zoloft?
I've had problems with anxiety for about 6 years and I know how you both are feeling. Anxiety and depression is really tough, and it's not always easy to find the right meds right away (it's trial and error) but when you find the right one it's like your life completely changes.

Oh yes, I can relate!!
I get down a lotttt, blah a lotttt, and just sad sometimes. My FH, also, thinks it's weird, and doesnt seem to 'get it'
You girls on here are all so sweet - and knowing others go through these things is comforting...

Yeah, It’s SSRI discontinuation syndrome…pain in the a! I actually had decreased all the way down to 12.5, and I still got the symptoms. Was just going to ride it out, but I’ve been unhappy and anxious and I don’t want to be suffering while the FH is here. My doctors have been really helpful, but I always worry that I disappoint them that I have these symptoms! Regarding what I wrote earlier about them hoping the meds would jumpstart my brain, I think it’s because I started on them when I was relatively young and my brain was still developing…
My life has been so much better with the meds (Zoloft and Wellbutrien) so I guess at this point, if it aint broke, don’t fix it? Lol I also think it’s my weird Irish family thing…any perceived sign of weakness is a horrible, horrible thing.

You are a human being. Nobody is perfect. You cannot help it if you have a chemical imbalance.
There is nothing wrong w/ being on meds and believe me, you are not disappointing your doctors. They of all people know that finding the right meds is challenging because everyone is so different! What works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another.
As long as you feel what you're doing is right, then that's what matters. I'm sure people would rather see you happy and stable being on meds, than miserable and unhappy on nothing.

it's very true. People dont have a problem with what you go through. They like to see you being involved and getting help. Most people have to try so many different medications to find one that is right for them, its normal and the doctors are used to this. People are disappointed when someone isn't trying and doesn't seek the help they need.

Absolutely! I've had to try a lot of different meds before i found one that was right. then at times they would stop working and i'd be on something new again. And as many as i've had to try i still get nervous everytime they put me on a new one. But i always take them cause i know i'm a much more balanced person that way. My anxiety attacks never really go away..but it helps me get through the day .. without them i'm a wreck and i've finally learned to accept that!

Oh, you’re all preaching to the choir here! Lol I’ve been a big proponent of getting help and have tried to help the rest of my family—we’re all a mess. My grandparents are among the most miserable people you will ever met and I’m pretty sure they both have their private stash of various meds, but they don’t go to therapy and they hate that I do. I’ve been having a tough time with my family about this lately. I’m the kind whose like “Oh, I feel this way” and all mushy and sensitive and stuff, and they tend to get angry when they’re upset. If I cry, it’s like the end of the world! I’ve been accused SEVERAL times of trying to manipulate them by crying, ever since I was about 12.
Sorry for being all pity party here, lol. Just trying to explain why I’m so torn about all this. All you girls are awesome though.

Re: :(
aww, I feel that way but I've gotten used to it. I gave up on all my 'friends' because they were never there for me when i needed them and I got sick of being the only one to really put a genuine wholehearted effort into being a true friend. so now its me and my FH. He is my one true friend and I'm fine with that.
I would love to meet some real ladies though. If you ever wanna get together and hang out I'm always down for it.

Re: :(
I feel this way sometimes ... a lot of the time, really.
Proof: I planned this birthday thing for myself a few weeks ago at dave and buster's - I turned 30 on 7/27 - and TWO people showed up. TWO. Many told me they couldn't come before hand - and while I was upset with that, because they were my closest friends, at least they told me. A number of other people told me they were coming, and ALL OF THEM except for two people just didn't show up. I cried the whole way home and the next morning when I was telling my mom. It made me feel like I wasn't even worth the phone call to say 'Sorry, I'm sick,' or whatever.
And the people that came? One was my FH's good friend who I love, but he's not really my friend -- but he did make me a funny homemade card on the computer -- and the other is my FH's friend's wife, who I have become very good friends with .. but her MIL was babysitting for her 10 month old and the MIL couldn't handle it, so 5 mins after arriving she had to leave to go back home.
And I am definitely a worry wort and an anxious a** sometimes!!!!!
So I know the feeling. But we will all meet at the shower and have 100 new friends!!!!!

Thanks girls! I hate being the 'i cry for no reason' kind of girl, it ***** and its totally not like me! But I do get into those blah funks sometimes. I feel like I used to have this huge group of friends but we had a stupid falling out a few years ago, and I just feel like I have no life. I dont know. Its pathetic! All I do is spend time with my cats! Ahhh!!
i totally know how you feel! i always had lots of friends and never had a hard time making new ones...in high school, the majority of whom i eventually lost touch with ...then in college (i went through 2 groups of friends)..i always thought we would stay in touch after graduation and now i dont talk to any of them anymore! i have tried to get back in touch with ppl. but nothing ever came of it.....so now i am living back on Long Island where i grew up, and really only have 2 close friends (one who lives 5 hours away) i have friends and acquiantances from work but none are from LI and some already have their own families so we rarely get together. thank god i have my 2 sisters close by! I am very happy right now, but i do but there are definately times when i wish i could go back to when i always had people to call or hang out with.
It makes me feel even worse during the wedding planning process....i feel like this whole wedding forces me to remind myself how few close friends i actually have.

And also I feel like at age 29 its just to much work to try and make new friends! LIW is, like my last outlet! If you girls werent here, I'd have 20 cats and I'd just eat a lot of cheesecake.
i'm well on my way to the 20 cats, and i DO eat a lot of cheesecake.
seriously... how are you supposed to make friends once you're out of school? Bars ain't my thing anymore... and my church has no members my age it seems...
LIW has been a lifesaver in the friend area.
I make some killer cheesecake (no joke, bring some lactaid) I'll make it for you guys!!! Come do wedding stuff with me and heather and kerri and kelly.... it's an adventure!!!
wedding stuff and cheesecake??? that's like a dream i had of a perfect day once..lmaoo. I'm there man! lmaoo ETA: wait..forgot to add.. it was only totally perfect because jon bon jovi and david wright were there.. so is there anyway we can arrange that?
David Wright might be busy, could you settle for John Maine? I've seen him at the bar, lol!!! Bon Jovi is probably stuck in a jug handle in NJ(I hate those things!). But I can get American Idol, Kevin Covais!!! And there would definitely be cheesecake involved!!!
