i'm against it, but i've never done drugs in my life (um, including smoke pot). i agree that it's a little weird with alcohol b/c i've done some stupid shiiit after drinking - which is why i never did drugs

ive never done any drugs besides pot just a few times.

Honestly i think its become too acceptable with all drugs...you hear people all the time talk about oh im on 'E', going out and ppl doing lines like its nothing, and who knows what else.

the whole pot thing uhmmm i understand taxing it to make money but still how does a parent tell their kid not to smoke pot but meanwhile its legal so why would they think its wrong to do. We say legalize pot, but would you want your kid to do it when hes a teenager?

if its for medical reasons then obviously thats different but theyre also able to smoke it if its for that reason.

well if the legalize it could be like cigs have to be 19 and older to buy it!!! ... parents tell kids now a days not to smoke cigs and they do it so whats really the diffrence ...

because its harder to prove how bad it is for you when its legal...exactly cigarettes are legal so thats why its hard to tell kids not to do it especially when so many ppl do, its not illegal, the parents might even do it.

any high school you'll pull up to you'll find TONS of kids smoking cigarettes, even jhs sadly you'll see this. It doesn't make it right

i totally hear you but like other posters said if one is leagal what difference does it make if you make pot legal ... i see how people are against dont get me wrong some people jsut cant handle dong ti they are ver irresponsible ... my brother is a perfecgtexample ... but me on the other hand did for all my HS and college year (ex was a very big pot head) and i still did very well in school and worked basicallly full time i never let it effect my responisblities ... but each thier own some people will condone it others wont ... and i personally thing some people shouldnt

I just feel like if our generation helped to legalize pot, in a few years people will be on this board talking about how other drugs should be legalized since pot was. The same thing we are saying about alcohol.

How many stories have you heard where someone high on ONLY weed got into a car and killed theirself or others???????????

Now how many have you heard about alcohol?????

I'm sure there have been many killed because someone was under the influence of pot we just don't hear about it.

I think it's harder to preach to your kids to not do things when they are commercials for it. You tell the child not to smoke and then there is a commercial with a joe cool smoking in it and it's like, society is almost AGAINST helping parents teach their kids how to make good decisions... I love the TRUTH commercials and that new one where the surgeon is removing a black lung, b/c at least parents can fall back onthose commercials to help prove their points to kids.

as far as drinking, it's a double edge sword... I like my glass of wine and beer every now and then, but i've learned how to be resposible with it.

i don't judge people who do drugs, but it does seem like more and more it's becoming totally the norm. i had an ex who used to try and get me to do E with him and I was like, uh, are you kidding me - are we in h.s. with this peer pressure crap?

i have no idea what my parents did to raise us, but none of us ever did drugs. i read Go Ask Alice as a kid and that literally turned me off to drugs forever. I bought it for my 12 yr. old nephew for his birthday

that is EXACTLY the point, some people enjoy their joint or bowl after work as opposed to a glass of wine. Why should those responsible people be at risk with the law when the person drinking wine is doing the essentially SAME THING without fear of legal persecution.

oh trust me i know how functional alot of ppl can be on it, one of my close friends is a huge pot head and she did very well in school, kept a 4.0 average throughout college and was always honors, she received a scholarship and all that.

the thing about a cigarette is that when i smoke it, it doesnt change my mood, it doesnt effect me or my ability to do anything. The whole what it does to us healthwise they dont care about lol.

Those truth commercials are what got FH to quit smoking!

absoulty NOT! It is still a drug and still affects you in more ways then one. You are basically opening up a can of worms if that were to happen. It's already way to easy for young kids to get.

Well, if you do it at home then no one will know and you can't get caught. Same with alcohol. I can't drink and then go out and drive, if i get caught, i'm going to jail.

honestly ppl are surprised when i tell them ive never done 'E' or cocaine, like they'll ask again 'are you serious?' and some won't even believe me, it shows how its more normal that you have done it rather than the fact that you haven't

That's not the point tho. Even if I do it in my own house I shoud be able to purchase it without needing to go to jail if i get caught. On the other hand wine & alcohol are all readily available for purchase.

As far as i'm concerned, cigarettes are more harmful than marijuana. The only reason cigarettes are legal and marijuana isn't is because the government is able to profit off of cigarettes and not marijuana. We have an abundance of tobacco in America, which is why cigarettes are legal...I smoke neither so I don't really care either way, but I think it's ridiculous that the government is trying to pass the ban on marijuana off as 'a concern for public health' while people are able to puff away on tobacco which is just as dangerous if not more so just my two cents..

Re: Topic for discussion

with pot i am back and forth about...sometimes i say it should be legal and others times that it shouldn't...i do know MANY ppl who can handle it and do fine with it...but i also do know the other side. Those who revolve their lives around smoking pot and not do much else.

I guess with alcohol i personally see it as somebody goes out drinks, acts stupid that night and thats it, but there are alcoholics so i should consider that more, bu back to my point they go out and have fun that night and thats it, of course with nothing bad happening like drinking and driving...with pot i see some who just lose interest in all other areas in their lives bc of it, no motivation to do much just smoke and that it effects them for longer than a short time frame.
