i'm against it, but i've never done drugs in my life (um, including smoke pot). i agree that it's a little weird with alcohol b/c i've done some stupid shiiit after drinking - which is why i never did drugs

ive never done any drugs besides pot just a few times.

Honestly i think its become too acceptable with all drugs...you hear people all the time talk about oh im on 'E', going out and ppl doing lines like its nothing, and who knows what else.

i don't judge people who do drugs, but it does seem like more and more it's becoming totally the norm. i had an ex who used to try and get me to do E with him and I was like, uh, are you kidding me - are we in h.s. with this peer pressure crap?

i have no idea what my parents did to raise us, but none of us ever did drugs. i read Go Ask Alice as a kid and that literally turned me off to drugs forever. I bought it for my 12 yr. old nephew for his birthday

honestly ppl are surprised when i tell them ive never done 'E' or cocaine, like they'll ask again 'are you serious?' and some won't even believe me, it shows how its more normal that you have done it rather than the fact that you haven't

same goes for me but mostly in the case of pot. but i just don't like smoking or anything like that. my friend tried to get me to smoke so many times

As far as i'm concerned, cigarettes are more harmful than marijuana. The only reason cigarettes are legal and marijuana isn't is because the government is able to profit off of cigarettes and not marijuana. We have an abundance of tobacco in America, which is why cigarettes are legal...I smoke neither so I don't really care either way, but I think it's ridiculous that the government is trying to pass the ban on marijuana off as 'a concern for public health' while people are able to puff away on tobacco which is just as dangerous if not more so just my two cents..

Well cigarettes have been legal since they came out and to try and make them illegal now would not make any sense. Maybe they are trying not to make the same mistake with pot. Something to think about...

legalize marijuana....and the age can be 21 just like drinking....to me its the same difference so i dont understand how one is legal and the other is not.....

with pot i am back and forth about...sometimes i say it should be legal and others times that it shouldn't...i do know MANY ppl who can handle it and do fine with it...but i also do know the other side. Those who revolve their lives around smoking pot and not do much else.

I guess with alcohol i personally see it as somebody goes out drinks, acts stupid that night and thats it, but there are alcoholics so i should consider that more, bu back to my point they go out and have fun that night and thats it, of course with nothing bad happening like drinking and driving...with pot i see some who just lose interest in all other areas in their lives bc of it, no motivation to do much just smoke and that it effects them for longer than a short time frame.

but like you pointed out, this can happen with alcohol too except I feel alcohol is more detramental in the long run. For example it has been proven that once you stop smoking pot even if you smoke for years you can bounce back and be fine, you just need a chance to clear you brain of the fog (no pun intended), the long term effects here are more social, you loose friends and you become fine with being bored, which is bad but on the other hand you can't bounce back from alcohol addiction so well, there are so many diseases associated with heavy drinking not to mention the chance of 'overdose' and on a more social note it's effect on domestic violence.

it's a VERY double-edged sword.....

i completely understand what you're saying but when it comes to health lets be serious that our gov't wont be doing whatever possible to do whats best for us. But the difference is that with cigarettes it wont alter how you think, how you react to things and well doesnt make you high

it is and i think our views are going to come from what we see in our lives and experiences...for me personally ive seen more addicted to pot but in a bad way...i know a few alcoholics but to really be around it, i haven't. OH BUT WAIT, this will help your point lol but out of everybody i know i do drink less than most however, i am the one who was in an alcoholic coma, i almost died and i mean seriously almost did. The doctors even told my mom that i might not make it and even when the EMS guy saw me after i got out of my coma, he said wow i thought you were gone...it was one of my first times drinking and yeah i was an idiot, i was at the level where youre basically dead. SO trust me i know how dangerous alcohol can be, i was young when it happened and had stayed away from alcohol for YEARS bc of it, when i turned around 23 years old i started drinking here and there and now ill drink a lil more often when i go out but it took a while

I think that the statement about cigarettes not affecting you is not entirely correct. Nicotene is a drug, it's addictive and in some people it does effect moods. Yes, I will agree if effects people much less then pot but it still has an effect, if it didn't people who have no problem quitting and you know the old saying about how cigarettes are harder to kick then heroin....

I'm a substance abuse counselor. Marijuana is much worse for your health than cigarettes. They have way more carcinogins (cancer-causing agents) and you inhale more smoke when you smoke marijuana than tobacco, not to mention you hold it in your lungs much longer. That being said, alcohol is much more damaging to all of your organ systems than any other drug and it's the only 'drug' that you can die from the withdrawal.

i agree, you only know what you see and in my family alcohol has been a terrible catalyst for many bad things happening so maybe that's why I feel the way I do about it.

That is a very scary experience, I'm glad you came out of it okay.

For the record, both of my parents smoked pot when I was growing up (damn hippies) and i have to say that I WAS A GOOD KID, AND DIDNT WANT TO BE LIKE THEM AND BECAUSE ALL KIDS REBELL I WENT THE OPPOSITE WAY OF NO DRUGS NO DRINKING UNTIL I WAS 21... --TALK ABOUT REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY so maybe if adults werent beating it into kids heads that the things were bad they wouldnt have such a desire to do them....

I didn't try pot until last year actually 27years old.
Never have tried any other drugs (except prescription like a xanex and ambien) but no cocaine or hardcore...

i was thinking about this before, i wonder if it was legal if it would be less appealing to people. I think with some people that will be the case which is one good thing. With pot i go back and forth on bc i see pros and cons to it being legal, but its the only drug, others its only cons. But thats why theres so much debate about making pot legal or not
