Total wedding Budget

Original post by Bride2012

This maybe personal and I'm sorry if I offend anyone but I want to know if I can have a great wedding at a reasonable cost? I have nothing right now...so if you have vendors at reasonable prices let me know! I am hoping for under 20k if thats doable these days??? Thanks!

15k and so far i'm under budget....

Me too!!! im DIY-ing alot of things and its a real saver for my pockets and im getting things done the way I would want to see it.

I think I need some help with DIY cause my hall was pretty decent priced and with tax it was like almost $100 pp so with 130 thats already $13,000 and thats before everything else (dj, photo, video, officiant, limo, gifts, dress, shoes, tux, etc...)
How are you guys doing this?! haha

At first i wanted anything i looked at...lol I had to step back and shop around. I am having a smaller wedding so that saves me there. Somewhere along the lines of 80-95 people. Im not doing limos. I opted to rent a cottage on there grounds and have me and my girls get ready there. Im also having a different package for my day as opposed to the whole wedding package. It seemed different and that kinda sums me up...lol Invites i'm going to DIY.

yea, that number cuts it down a lot, but still! haha, I feel like it added up soooo quickly. I mean granted, we did want nicer things, and my fiancé and I have been together for over 6 years and have been saving for this, but it was still kind of a shocker how fast it went up in price. oh well, we're only doing this once, right? lol

oh btw, I am including honeymoon into this budget btw (hawaii is expensive, lol)

I know it adds ups sooo fast. With my wedding i didnt have to pay for a Limo because the Fox has a hotel on their grounds and they gave me a room for free for the day of my wedding. Saved dinero there.
I'm not doing a video saved moola there too.
The time of year im getting married in nov was under $100 pp with tax and grat. We have at most 105 people coming.
Shoes - I caught a sale at ruelala.
DJ - got him for 1K
Photographer - got him for a REALLY great price so artistic.
Officiant was incl with Fox Hollow. I actually was going to choose them anyway so that worked out.
And the list goes on and on. But please ask me what im doing with all the money im saving...... Buying a darn Louis V bag.

I'm in the same boat here.

I've got about ideally 18 K (That's the ideal goal so there's fudge room if need be) and a guest list of 100-110.

I'm lucky also in that my parents are paying for the reception venue/catering/etc. where we are also holding the ceremony.

Re: Total wedding Budget

it is definitely doable but be prepared for a lot of DIY. it also depends on the number of people. i had 180 people at my wedding and my RH cost about $115 pp with tax and gratuity included so that was $20K right there. if you can keep the number of people down, then you can get most of your vendors for around $1000-2000 each. if you have a friend who can do video, save the $2K there and give them a $250 giftcard or something instead. as long as you have the footage, you can have a student edit it later on for free probably. also, opt to do simpler centerpieces. my flowers were $4K - i just went to a wedding where the girl used the hurricane vases and candles from BBB as her CPs - a whole $20 per table! i also went to a wedding where even the bouquets were fake flowers.

IMO the most important thing for your wedding is food and music. and for the most important thing is photos because that's all you have in the end. the rest is just details.

FH and I visited The Sands in Lido Beach ... it is under new owners and is affordable (they quoted us at $85/person for a Saturday night in October) but it's not the nicest. Inside it's beautiful, but the location and outside appearance are what turned us off.

Are you adding up every single thing like:

dress, alternations, undergarments, veil, headpiece
tux, shoes
jewlery
hair/makeup
DJ
Photographer total amount including pickup
Video
Florist
Honeymoon, plane tickets
Rehearsal Dinner and/or next day brunch
Extras like Photobooth or if not, cocktail hour music
ALL TIPS FOR VENDORS
Tip for Maitre D & Bridal Attendant
Tax & Gratuity payment for venue

If so, please tell me how you are spending only 15-20k.

Tip for Maitre d and BA will only be like 350. My seamstress which is also my tailor is bustling and altering my dress for not expensive. and my grat and tax is about 90pp for 100. that 9K. Not doing cocktail hour music. Jewlery im usin my own diamonds. YEA its definately doable.

You go girl! I don't see myself being able to do the 20k budget with a honeymoon. But I'm going to try my best to keep to my budget.

We are at the same price pp with tax. We are inviting 240 people though. Maitre D tip doubles and then some. I am including the cost of everything, plane/hotel, wedding rings, etc. With 100 guests it's possible but not with over 200+.
I had my dress custom made (for very inexpensive actually) so I shouldn't need too many alterations. I have tried to save $ here and there but it's not easy to budget everything.

Timber Point is really reasonable with prices. They gave me a GREAT deal for Sunday. Also, if you cut out liquor, and just serve beer and wine, that can easily cut off $10/person as well. Unforunately, I am having a larger wedding than I really wanted, so there goes a big chunk of my budget, but my parents also were very generous with helping us out with the wedding. They are giving us $15k. If they weren't able to help out, we would be eloping also!

you have twice as many people as i am having. Your biggest cost will be the RH. Every dollar saved helps tho :).

Re: Total wedding Budget

I'm hoping to stay around ~$20k for 100 people.

I'm not including honeymoon because we take vacations every year (already traveled together to Hawaii, Cabo, Cancun, St. Lucia, St. Martin, Jamaica, Portugal, Hong Kong, Bali, Tokyo, Kyoto, etc)

Our ideas for cutting costs:
--Saturday afternoon reception 12-6pm
--Non-floral centerpieces
--No limos
--DIY photo albums

My friend has also offered to do my flowers for me - I'm not sure what she's capable of yet but I was thinking maybe get the florist to do my bouquet and having her do the bridesmaids bouquets (5 girls) and the bouts for the guys.

we're doing almost the exact same things! I dislike flowers, and I like DIY, so the centerpieces were a non-issue. Ceremony & reception at the same place so we don't even miss the idea of limos. What will you do right after the reception? I'm wondering about putting together a little after-party somewhere - just to continue seeing my friends because we know our older relatives and those with children will scoot off at the end.

A lot of the halls ask for guarantees of 150 or 175 on a Saturday, especially in the more desirable months.

This is true! We guaranteed 150 for a daytime wedding!

Re: Total wedding Budget

I believe that most place make you guarantee 150 on Saturday even for a day wedding but I guess you have to check out the place you want to get married. I have a 100 min. on a Saturday night but Rich is great to work with. I always wanted a Saturday night and I got it. However, I know places on Friday and Sunday nights are a little cheaper. If you do a day wedding those days even cheaper. I cant see getting up at 4 in the morning to get my hair and makeup ready tho in order to have a day wedding.
