This maybe personal and I'm sorry if I offend anyone but I want to know if I can have a great wedding at a reasonable cost? I have nothing right now...so if you have vendors at reasonable prices let me know! I am hoping for under 20k if thats doable these days??? Thanks!

Re: Total wedding Budget
I went venue shopping in the first week of December 2011 for late June 2012 and early November 2012 Saturday afternoon dates, and every venue we visited offered us a room for our 90-100 minimum guarantee.
The places we visited were:
Westbury Manor Fox Hollow Swan Club Douglaston Manor Venetian Yacht Club Chateau La Mer

Re: Total wedding Budget
wow...we finalized our plans today with Fox Hollow and a minimum was never even mentioned. i guess it's not a big deal if you're sure you'll have that amount of people but a 'must-have' number would worry me -- unless they could upgrade our options if we paid for that many people but they didn't all come

Re: Total wedding Budget
I garanteed 200 for mine and am having a Sunday Twilight. The 200 people was us the edge to get the price for a morning wedding on Sunday there. Then we took out the hard liquor (having just beer and wine) and that took off another $5-10 off. So after all that, I am now paying $59/person AND I have nobody before or after me!
Definitely made me happy cause I was afraid of needing more time to get ready for an evening wedding, and didn't want to wake up at the break of dawn that day either for a daytime wedding.

Re: Total wedding Budget
Wow thats a great price! Maybe because you had so many people then lower it for you? I'm going with smithtown landing which is a lessing company but they didn't give me that price but a good price for a saturday night I felt.

Re: Total wedding Budget
I definitely think its because of how many people that we got the price. Also getting rid of hard liquor helped BIG time!!!! That was the morning price, and cause of the number of people, we got it for the twilight which sealed the deal for me. I would have loved the Bourne mansion, but the price was higher there as well.

Oh yeah liquor is lot of money. Every bit counts. You couldn't get Bourne Mansion to lower there price? Or pick an of season date?

Re: Total wedding Budget
Before we knew my parents were helping we visited a few spots that offered budget packages. Windows on the Lake was actually not as cheap as i thought it would be....and it was HORRIBLE looking both outside and inside. I was mortified.
Some other places we looked at that were cheaper were Mediterannian Manor- Brentwood Country Club and Timber Point Country Club. For a winter wedding- Timber Point was willing to give an unimaginable price. I can FM you the price they gave us.
To save money, def consider a wedding from November- March and on either a Friday or Sunday night.
HTH!

Re: Total wedding Budget
oh btw, I am including honeymoon into this budget btw (hawaii is expensive, lol)
Oh, we aren't including that in our '20K wedding'! Should I have? I didn't think about it.
We are getting married in November but not honeymooning until February (FH is a teacher), so it feels likes a whole separate thing.

we're not factoring that in either - we both teach too and it won't be until a few months after our october wedding.

Are you sure? They were trying to make us guarantee 175 for the bigger room and i think 125 for WGP or somerly (that didnt fit 150 so if we were over that we were screwed!) This was one of the (2) reasons we didnt go with them.

We were so surprised with Windows on the lake pricing... especially because i've been there for weddings and .... it's not worth it in my opinion. Timber point was soo reasonable (on paper) and was willing to negotiate.

Yep. My wedding doesn't come close to 175, and it might max out at 110 but I doubt it. We were very clear when we told them it was a small wedding - FH & I each have pretty small families due to people having passed away when we were younger.
The only thing Jen did tell us was that kids wouldn't get a 'kids price' for their meals unless we already had 110 other people, including vendors, but that was okay.

My budget is $25,000 for 100 people. I am pretty much on track and next Christmas I am giving everyone a list of things I need for the wedding the extra's like channa plaque, card box etc and asking them to purchase them as our christmas gifts to save money! I will also try to diy alot of things like ring bearer pillow, flower girl basket :)

Re: Total wedding Budget
I won my dress from the wedding center! I heard some not so pleasant things about their wedding packages, but for incidentals and the small things I think they are good for. They also will match prices on those items. Even if its an online price that you find (which means not paying shipping and handling!)
I looked at Windows on the Lake also and thought the same things as you girls. Not really worth the price they want for all you have to do etc. I am quite content with Timber Point and Jason is sooo fun to work with! :) He is gonna be our Matre' D also.
