Where was your FH born? I know NYC will issue a birth certificate immediately if you go to the office (its down by the courts in Manhattan). I also believe Nassau issues the birth certificate fairly quickly. Good luck!

We got our marriage license in NYC - downtown by City Hall. I think the building is 1 Centre Street ... anyway, all they required was our passport. Might be worth a trip to the city if you can't find anything nearby.

Ooops! Skimmed over that. Well they only required 1 type of identification from the list below:
'All applicants must bring valid forms of identification when applying for a marriage license. Expired forms of identification will not be accepted.
Valid forms of identification are as follows:
Driver's license (from the United States or one of its territories) Non-driver's identification card (from the United States or one of its territories) Learner's permit from New York State only Active duty United States military identification card Passport United States certificate of naturalization (issued within the past ten years) United States permanent resident card with valid expiration date United States employment authorization card with valid expiration date

i destroye my birth certificate years ago in attempting to make a copy through my fax machine...anyway i was leaving for the bahamas in 2 days so i scrambled to find out which town hall to call...(the town you were born) i called up an told them my story they told me to come in the next morning...so i did and they said this normally takes up to 3 weeks but we will make an exception...so all i can say is to call and find out...they literally did it for me in 5 min..good luck

I dont have my birth certificate either and Town of Hempstead told me that I can bring my drivers license, health insurance card, or employee ID card with pic. So I am bringing all 3 just in case.
