Town Halls for Marriage LIcenses with Late Hours?

Does anyone know if any town halls in Suffolk have late hours? And what the hours are?

Thanks :)

Hey Sue,
I can tell you that the Town of Huntington is open late I believe either Wed/Thu. Smithtown has no late hours.

Re: Town Halls for Marriage LIcenses with Late Hours?

you are suppose to go the town hall in which town you will be married in. You need to bring originals of your SOS card, ID and Birth Certificate. Then they type it up, swear you in and give you a letter to provide to your priest, rabbi, minister, etc to sign and they the officiant is responsible to send it back to the town and you should recieve your marriage license in about two weeks. We dealt with the Town of Smithtown Town Hall and everything ran smoothly except having to take a half a day from work for it.

I know we need birth certificate and 1 more form of id (driver's license, passport) and something showing SSN (SS card, pay stub) and it costs some $$$ (i forget how much). It may differ from town to town and county to county. We just need to find a town clerk that is open when we can get our butts both down there!

Re: Town Halls for Marriage LIcenses with Late Hours?

We got ours at Huntington Town hall- they have late hours on Fridays. All we needed was our DL and birth certificate, no SS card. It was $40, and the whole process took about 15 minutes.

ETA: we made an appointment

Yeah I see that! I think a lot of the town halls are different, I would call the one you plan on going to to see what their policies are.
I can only give you the experience I had, I don't know about other towns. You definitely don't have to go in the town you are getting married in though, you could go to any town hall in New York State.

You could look it up online - it says right on SMithtown's Town Hall website (under Town Clerk) what I needed.
