traditional vs. modern photos

Hey -- I need some help! I'm trying to decide on what photographers to look into. Based on what I'm seeing, you can pick something that's more modern, or stick with a more traditional photographer... but..WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE??? lol I feel clueless. Can someone shed some light on this for me?

:) Thanks

Re: traditional vs. modern photos

traditional photographers will take the pictures you're used to seeing from wedding albums: a lot of family line-ups and poses, straight on with no angles or special lighting.

modern photographers have gone the route of photojournalists and play with angles, shading, lighting, and focus on a lot of the little details and unplanned moments.

there are photographers who can do both, though, and that's what we're getting - my mom can get copies of the annoying 'everyone on the bride's side stand over here' pictures but then i get really funky shots of everything else

hth!

Re: traditional vs. modern photos

we're actually not set in stone yet!

our top choices aren't photographers usually used by LIW, but they are recommended vendors from apracticalwedding.com:

http://hartandsolphoto.com/#/pricing-e/

http://ambermarlow.com/portfolio/

http://fedorovfoto.com/

http://www.kellyprizel.com/portfolio/

http://www.pennacephotography.com/#/page/95e6/home/

and http://www.gutphoto.com/ who has been used on here before and i was actually leaning most towards, but haven't gotten a response to my last email yet!
